Job description

The Territory Manager- must possess a high degree of knowledge within Industrial markets. The position requires ownership of assigned accounts in the targeted markets of Defense & Security, Government, Electronics, Food & Beverage, Aerospace, Water Treatment. This role requires someone who is self-sufficient, comfortable working remotely, and is highly motivated to nurture and develop a key market vertical for Valin.

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has interest (experience preferred) in industrial heat, heat trace, filtration, and/or fluid handling products. The account manager must also effectively leverage both internal and external resources for product and customer service support, thereby allowing maximize time spent generating revenue producing opportunities. This individual will be supported by strongly resourced industrial process heat, process control, filtration, and automation teams who will be available to assist with opportunity support and project management.

Strong candidates will have strong process control knowledge with the ability to assist customers in sizing, selecting, and specifying On/Off, ShutOff, Pinch, and Relief valves, as well as valve actuation packages, regulators, fittings, connectors, and related instrumentation products. They should be skilled in interpreting application requirements, troubleshooting system challenges, and guiding customers toward optimal configurations that enhance performance and reliability while supporting successful sales outcomes. Experience working with leading manufacturers such as Valmet, Parker Instrumentation, and Watlow-or equivalent product lines-is highly desired and will be prioritized in the selection process.

This Territory Manager will be responsible for a $2.5M Territory with distribution focused in Greater SLC, Utah, Arizona, and Idaho (occasional travel to Montana, Nevada, Wyoming).

Market Focus: Refining, Down Stream Power Generation, Medical Device Manufacturing and Aerospace Markets

Product Portfolio Distribution: Fluid Handling. Filtration, Process Control, Automation and Process Heat

Top Suppliers: Watlow, Heat Trace Products, Parker IPD, Parker Filtration Group, Valmet, Valve Automation Assemblies, Emerson Products (Asco, TopWorks, Numatics, Aventics)

In this role you will:

  • Drive Topline Revenue for key suppliers in target accounts.
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for all customer account management matters.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships.
  • Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximize profits.
  • Develop 'trusted advisor' relationships with key accounts, customer stakeholders and executive sponsors.
  • Work closely with Valin Customer Service teams to ensure delivery of a World Class Customer experience with a focus on increasing customer retention rate and providing an outstanding customer experience.
  • Forecast, track and clearly communicate the progress of leads and opportunities, and quarterly and annual sales objectives to internal stakeholders via the Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Platform.
  • Develop new business with existing clients and/or identify areas of improvement to meet sales and mission related goals.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify and grow opportunities within assigned accounts and prospective accounts.
  • Work closely with strategic vendors to ensure that both Valin, vendor and customer needs are satisfied.
  • Assist with challenging client requests or trigger internal escalations as needed.
  • Provides technical presentations to clients related to Valin's product lines and services.
  • Exhibit the strategic and tactical ability to close sales at a high success rate.
  • Effective management of a sizeable number of accounts and contacts located geographically across Northern California.

What you bring to the table:

  • Engineering or business degree desired, but extensive sales experience in the industrial sector is also acceptable.
  • Excellent organizational skills, efficient and detail-oriented
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, to foster interaction within all levels of the organization, prospects, and customers.
  • Experienced obtaining, reviewing and compiling customer bill of materials, engineering reports and drawings.
  • Skilled in operating a personal computer and Office 365 programs.
  • Capable of pursuing multiple clients and opportunities with changing priorities and deadlines
  • Able to work well in a highly energized environment, can handle distractions, works as a team player.

Physical Capabilities and Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 50% overnight travel required (Utah-Farmington-North, Metropolitan Center, Provo South), Northern, AZ, South Eastern, ID). Occasional travel to Wyoming, Nevada, Montana as required. Regional travel for Supplier/Vendor trainings and engagements on assignment only.
  • Lifting: May have to inspect components may need to lift up to 30 pounds

Compensation Details: The expected basesalaryfor this position is starting at $85,000 annually depending on experience. This position is also commission eligible - based on specific and relevant business metrics.
