Job description

Job Title: Jr. Software Test Engineer (Contract-to-Hire) Location: Huntsville, AL (On-site) Security Clearance: Active Secret preferred OR ability to obtain Pay Rate: $62-68/hr (W2)

About the role

Join a team supporting defense/tactical systems where you’ll help test and validate software used for mission-critical tools and applications. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career to grow alongside experienced test engineers while working on meaningful programs.

What you’ll do

  • Help create and execute test plans, test strategies, and test cases
  • Perform automated testing and support the test framework/infrastructure
  • Assist with integration testing and some manual testing
  • Review, edit, and create engineering/test documentation (industry-standard formats)
  • Work closely with software developers and cross-functional team members
  • Support formal qualification testing, fielding, and ongoing maintenance as needed

What we’re looking for (must-haves)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (CS, Software Engineering, Computer/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering, Math, etc.) with 3.0+ GPA
  • 2+ years of relevant technical experience (with a BS)
  • Active Secret clearance OR ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Hands-on experience with software testing on complex projects
  • Experience with test automation
  • Programming experience in one or more: C#/.NET, C, C++, Java, Python, or Ruby
  • Strong communication skills (able to share updates clearly with teammates and stakeholders)

Nice-to-haves

  • Automated UI testing experience
  • Familiarity with standards/processes like IEEE 12207, CMMI, DO-178C/DO-278, MIL-STD-882E, RMF
  • Exposure to CI/CD, containerization, microservices
  • Experience testing systems related to navigation, mission planning, sensors, guidance & control
  • Familiarity with MBSE/SysML and hardware-software integration concepts
