Technical Writer

The Opportunity:

Are you interested in using your technicalexpertiseand people skills toassistthe client in their mission toestablisha modernized data and technology presence? Our team is looking for a technical writer who can work alongside our technical subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop clear and helpful technical documentation that both our team and our customers can use in their efforts to support the client's data modernization goals.

As a technical writer on our team, you willbe responsible forcollaborating with data scientists, developers, and others to shepherd technical documentation from conception to publication. The type of documentation you will be working on will cover a variety of topics fromCloudplatform services,as well asOn-premises,to data platform procedural guidelines.

We need someone who can help our team members translate complex subjects and processes into accessible and well-structured guidance material. You must be able to use your writing skills toassistreaders in making connections between granular concepts and big picture ideas.

Outside of just writing, we are looking for an excellent communicator with the ability tofacilitatediscussions between SMEs and leadership. This is vital to ensuring that the documentation we produce for both our clients and team members is meaningful and professional. You should also be capable of effectively coordinating with SMEs onnumerousteams on any concerns or questions you have as they relate to deadlines and documentation.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience with technical writing

  • 3+ years ofexperience with Microsoft Word including Styling, Formatting, Layout,andAccessibility Checks

  • Experience working with technical SMEs and leadership to discuss topics and issues related to technical documentation

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Visio

  • Ability to review, edit, and writelarge quantitiesof technical documentation within a reasonabletimeframe

  • Ability to communicate professionally andin a timely mannerwith team members and clients

  • Ability to conduct independent research as necessary to search for client solutions

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with writing technical training documentation related to subscription-based application servicessuch as Cloud services

  • Experience with granting andmaintainingappropriate SharePointpermissions

  • Knowledge of 508 accessibility standards

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $55,200.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
