Job description

Overview

To drive innovation and operational excellence through technology that enables teams to focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences. The Business Systems department delivers software to drive business process optimization through automation, intuitive workflows, and data governance. Our goal is to serve our internal customers (operators & support departments) with solutions that empower them to maximize their performance and enhance the customer journey.

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Data & Analytics leads the strategic direction, delivery, and operational maturity of RPM Living's Data & Analytics organization within Product & Engineering. This role partners directly with the SVP, Data & Analytics, to build and scale internal data engineering, analytics, and governance capabilities, reducing reliance on third-party contractors while establishing RPM Living as a data-driven, insight-led organization.

Responsibilities

Serve as the senior operating leader for the Data & Analytics team, translating the SVP's vision into staffing plans, delivery roadmaps, and quarterly priorities. Own end-to-end delivery of the Microsoft Fabric medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold/semantic layers) in partnership with the Data Engineering Lead and Lead Data Architect. Directly manage and develop a team spanning data engineering, analytics/BI, data governance, and QA, including performance management, career development, and org design. Partner with business stakeholders across property operations, finance, and technology to prioritize analytics and reporting initiatives, including cross-platform data integrations and business processes. Establish data governance, quality, and security standards across 30+ source integrations (Yardi, RealPage, UKG, Salesforce, and others). Evaluate and drive adoption of AI-assisted tooling (e.g., Claude, CodeRabbit) to accelerate engineering velocity and analytics delivery. Present roadmap progress, risks, and organizational health to senior executive leadership. Manage vendor and contractor relationships, budgets, and resourcing decisions for the Data & Analytics function. Define and enforce architectural and coding standards, working closely with the Lead Data Architect to ensure long-term platform scalability.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field. Experience may substitute for education. Ten years of progressive experience in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence, including Five+ years in a people-leadership role. Five years' experience with modern cloud data platforms (Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse/SQL, or equivalent) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau). Experience in multifamily, real estate, or another property-operations-driven industry is a plus but not required.

Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical strategy for non-technical senior leadership. Knowledge of data architecture patterns (medallion/lakehouse), data governance frameworks, and modern BI/semantic modeling practices. Proven ability to build, mentor, and retain high-performing technical teams in a rebuild/turnaround environment. Strong vendor management and contract negotiation skills, particularly related to managed services and staff augmentation. Comfort operating with ambiguity and evolving scope typical of a growing, newly-formed department. Working knowledge of AI-assisted development and analytics tooling and its application to team productivity.
