Job description

Responsibilities
The Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) under supervision of the surgeon, as reflected in the delineation of privilege (DOP), will perform procedures requiring the knowledge and application of sterile technique, basic anatomy and physiology during surgical procedures. The CSFA will deal specifically with such tasks as holding retractors, suctioning and sponging the operative site, applying dressings, providing hemostasis and suturing. Services provided by a CSFA may be eligible for reimbursement from the insurance payors, and the CSFA may be required to perform on-call services as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Must have hospital and/or payer credentialing completed before functioning in this role
  • One of: CSFA or CSA or SAC or MD

Desired:
  • One year as a surgical assistant
  • High School Diploma or GED
