Overview
Registered Nurse — Labor & Delivery (L&D) travel assignment in Newport, Vermont, United States. Start date: 09/08/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $2,429 – $2,504 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. Shift: Nights. Setting: a 25-bed, Critical Access hospital in the Northeast Kingdom. This role covers Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, and Baby Unit care with the flexibility to float to other units as needed and to assist with overflow from the Progressive Care Unit. Public transportation is limited in the area, so personal transportation is strongly recommended. The agency provides onboarding and ongoing support, including quarterly department education sessions.

Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive L&D nursing care for laboring patients, including Post-Partum and newborn care, with monitoring of maternal and fetal status.
- Administer medications and perform procedures per clinical protocols; assist with deliveries and newborn assessments; address routine emergencies in obstetric care.
- Monitor, document, and communicate patient status; collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the broader care team to coordinate care.
- Maintain sterile technique and infection control practices; manage medications, IVs, pain management, and postpartum recovery for mothers and babies.
- Float to related units as needed and assist with overflow from the Progressive Care Unit to maintain patient flow and safety.
- Complete required quarterly department education sessions and participate in unit-based quality and safety activities.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Vermont (or eligible for Vermont licensure).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS and NRP are preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery or obstetric nursing experience preferred.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (associate or bachelor's degree).
- Ability to work nights and to float to other units as needed; able to perform in a small, rural hospital setting.
- Attendance at quarterly education sessions as required by agency onboarding.
