Pharmacy Technician โ€“ San Carlos Apache Healthcare

Location: Peridot, AZ

 Position Summary:

San Carlos Apache Healthcare is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to support hospital pharmacy operations by preparing and dispensing medications, maintaining medication inventory, compounding sterile IV medications, and operating automated medication dispensing systems. The ideal candidate will have hospital pharmacy experience, hands-on experience with Omnicell, and be proficient in sterile IV compounding while maintaining compliance with USP standards and Arizona Board of Pharmacy regulations.

 Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, package, label, and dispense medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Perform sterile IV admixture compounding in accordance with USP <797>, USP <800>, and aseptic technique guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets, including medication stocking, replenishment, inventory management, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Prepare hazardous and non-hazardous compounded medications while following appropriate safety protocols.
  • Receive, store, and maintain medication inventory, ensuring proper rotation and removal of expired medications.
  • Process medication orders accurately using the electronic pharmacy information system.
  • Refill automated dispensing cabinets and emergency crash carts throughout the hospital.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of medication preparation, dispensing, inventory, and controlled substances.
  • Assist pharmacists in medication distribution, patient care activities, and pharmacy workflow.
  • Perform unit-dose packaging, medication cart fills, and restocking of pharmacy supplies.
  • Follow infection control, medication safety, and quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain compliance with Arizona Board of Pharmacy, DEA, Joint Commission, and hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and timely medication delivery.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and pharmacy departmental projects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy workspace.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Active Arizona Pharmacy Technician License (Required).
  • Hospital Pharmacy experience (Required).
  • Experience with Omnicell automated dispensing systems (Required).
  • Experience with sterile IV compounding (Required).
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT)
