Role Summary

Reporting to the Filtration Sales Manager, the Filtration Product Specialist is a key member of the Forberg Smith Sales Team. The specialist is responsible for customer sales, satisfaction, and territory management, providing solutions for manufacturers dealing with compressed air and filtration challenges.

Responsibilities

Sales functions include territory management, customer interactions, prospecting for new customers, contract and pricing negotiations, product demonstration, inventory management, uncovering needs, and closing sales.

  • Ability to manage a territory with a growth outlook and forecast analysis.
  • Act as a primary contact for assigned accounts.
  • Build and grow sales using software platforms.
  • Maintain product knowledge of supplier partners, application expertise, and pricing structures.
  • Lead presentations, negotiate effectively, prepare business proposals, conduct product demonstrations, and produce sales planning materials.
  • Conduct regular and consistent customer visits and off‑site work activities.
  • Manage territory and customer base with a small‑business owner mindset.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Work Experience: 5 years of technical selling experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Analytics/Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office, ability to learn business/distribution software, and at least 2 years of CRM experience.
  • Organization Skills: Highly organized, detail‑oriented, able to multitask, shift priorities, and work in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent presentation skills, ability to convey large data sets into actionable information, strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Physical, Mental and Visual Skills: Frequent sitting, driving, and vehicle entry; ability to see, sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear; lift/move/carry up to 50 lbs; be on feet for 8 hrs/day; climb stairs, step ladders, bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel.
  • Travel Requirements: Must travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Driver’s License: Possess and maintain a valid license.

Preferred qualifications: Background in sales training and experience with filtration products (compressed air filtrations, nitrogen generators, compressed air dryers, process fluid filtration).
