The role focuses on producing digital‑first sports news content for social, video distribution, and mobile optimized platforms. Responsibilities include writing scripts, collecting visual assets, and producing and editing digital video under tight sports deadlines. Prior experience in sports video production, proven video editing skills, and a clear understanding of traditional versus digital‑first content is required.

Location: Stamford, CT. Work in Stamford, CT and flexibility for weekends and evenings is required.

Responsibilities
  • Create 3+ digital video stories per day, often under tight sports‑driven deadlines.
  • Cut short‑form digital video in under 3 hours end‑to‑end: collect reporting, write script, gather assets/b‑roll, track VO, produce and edit, then post on social and digital platforms.
  • Cut multiple sports news highlights during live events; write headlines, captions, and metadata to match video.
  • Use strong sports news judgment to identify clips that drive video views on Versant Sports sites, YouTube, etc.
  • Create SEO‑optimized headlines and captions that accurately represent the video story.
  • Edit with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, or AVID.
  • Collaborate with Versant Sport’s social and editorial teams to create highly shareable content.
  • Optimize sound and lighting quality, create simple graphic transitions, add on‑screen text and graphics, and export videos.
  • Serve as a creative producer/editor on assigned projects (livestreams, weekly series, mashups, interviews, etc.).
  • Use strong news judgment and optimize content for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • Coordinate with producing team, booking team, and post‑production as needed.
  • Produce guest interviews, attend field shoots, and shoot clean footage on DSLR or iPhone.
  • Collect clear audio on set and in the studio.
  • Take daily assignments from the News Producer.
  • Pitch content ideas to increase video views and site traffic.
  • Maintain professionalism with talent.
  • Line‑produce and produce ad/sales content when assigned.
  • Produce branded content as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects with parallel timelines.
Qualifications
  • BA or BS from a four‑year accredited college or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years producing news digital video content end‑to‑end for digital platforms.
  • Excellent expertise with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects).
  • Knowledge of AVID or similar platforms, or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Excellent writing and copy editing skills.
  • Ability to work under extremely tight deadlines.
  • Social media‑savvy; able to post stories on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube.
  • Creative thinker who can spot sports and social trends and tell stories innovatively in digital video.
  • Ability to shoot footage on DSLR camera.
  • Photoshop proficiency required.
  • Team player; able to contribute individually while working within a team environment.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Must submit a resume for consideration.
  • Must be willing to work in Stamford, CT.
  • Must have work authorization in the United States.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
Desired Characteristics
  • Strong understanding of digital metrics: page views, video views, follower growth, etc.
  • Strong understanding of digital trends.
  • Strong camera skills; ability to shoot with HDV cameras.
  • Athlete interview skills and the ability to ask smart, breaking‑news questions.
