Job description

Position summaryIGC is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to build and sustain secure, scalable, and accessible cloud and AI-enabled web applications for a prospective federal artificial intelligence engineering program supporting a federal customer. You will deliver front-end, middleware, API, back-end, database, and integration components and help integrate AI and machine-learning capabilities into production systems.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role that combines full-stack development, cloud and DevOps practices, and disciplined software engineering within a structured, collaborative government-contractor delivery environment.Key responsibilities
  • Perform senior-level software development, scripting, architecture, and technical planning.
  • Develop and maintain secure, scalable, reliable, accessible, and maintainable web applications.
  • Work within Scrum and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Design, query, integrate, and optimize relational databases.
  • Analyze complex technical and business problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Develop applications using multiple frameworks and apply advanced software-engineering tools, methods, standards, and architecture practices.
  • Build full-stack solutions using technologies such as the PERN stack: PostgreSQL, Express.js, React, and Node.js.
  • Use Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines and Git-based source-code management.
  • Integrate logging, monitoring, tracing, metrics, diagnostics, and other observability capabilities.
  • Direct or support system installation, configuration, deployment, patching, and upgrades.
  • Develop solutions by assessing information needs, consulting users and stakeholders, analyzing system flows, examining data usage and work processes, investigating problems, and following the software-development lifecycle.
  • Determine system specifications, functional requirements, technical requirements, integration requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Improve system performance through analysis, testing, tuning, troubleshooting, and recommended process or policy changes.
  • Collect, analyze, document, and summarize development, operational, performance, and service issues.
  • Develop front-end, middleware, API, back-end, database, infrastructure, and integration components.
  • Support integration of AI and machine-learning capabilities into production applications.
  • Develop accessible user interfaces; conduct accessibility testing; validate Section 508 conformance; and perform remediation and validation during applicable iterations and releases.
  • Conduct unit, integration, regression, accessibility, performance, security, and user-acceptance testing as applicable.
  • Support cloud deployment, DevOps automation, configuration management, access control, security authorization, and production operations.
  • Develop technical architecture, build plans, operating plans, security documentation, test documentation, release documentation, and customer guides.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint demonstrations, reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and production support.
Required qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional software-engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience in software development and scripting.
  • Experience managing technical projects or software-engineering workstreams, including planning, task coordination, schedule tracking, risk management, status reporting, and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience with Scrum or Agile software development.
  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience developing applications with multiple frameworks.
  • Proficiency in software-engineering tools and software architecture.
  • Full-stack development experience using PERN or closely comparable technologies, including strong experience with PostgreSQL, Express.js, React, and Node.js, or demonstrably comparable technologies.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS and front-end development practices supporting UI and UX, including front-end JavaScript and libraries such as React.
  • Prototyping experience and visual communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements and accessible technology delivery, including accessibility validation.
  • Experience with Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Expertise with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based code management.
  • Experience implementing observability for software applications.
  • Experience with DevOps, cloud computing, infrastructure, web development, and software architecture.
  • Experience with system installation, configuration, deployment, and upgrades.
  • Experience eliciting requirements, analyzing system workflows and data usage, defining specifications, and following a formal software-development lifecycle.
  • Experience evaluating and improving system performance.
  • Testing and debugging experience, including familiarity with development tools used to evaluate application performance, usability, and page speed.
  • Experience documenting and communicating development and service issues.
  • Ability to collaborate with product owners, technical teams, security personnel, data specialists, and federal stakeholders in a joint government-contractor delivery environment rather than in isolation.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, information technology, or a closely related technical field.
Preferred qualifications
  • Ten or more years of software-engineering experience.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Experience integrating generative AI, RAG, machine-learning models, APIs, or cloud AI services into production applications.
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, CRM platforms, or other enterprise SaaS environments.
  • Experience with containerization, Kubernetes, API gateways, identity management, role-based access control, automated testing, and secure DevSecOps.
  • Experience with federal security, privacy, ATO, CUI, NIST, FedRAMP, or Section 508 requirements.
  • Relevant cloud, software-development, DevOps, security, database, or Agile certifications.
Security and employment conditions
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated federal public-trust suitability determination before entry on duty, unless the customer formally grants temporary eligibility under its applicable procedures.
  • Ability to complete and maintain all required federal training, including security awareness, privacy, unauthorized-disclosure training, controlled unclassified information (CUI), sensitive information and For Official Use Only (FOUO) safeguarding, rules of behavior, operational security (OPSEC), insider threat, and nondisclosure requirements.
  • Ability to comply with applicable federal security, privacy, access-control, acceptable-use, and information-protection requirements.
Work location and schedule

  • Standard working hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. Occasional work outside normal hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, may be required.
