Job Title: Principal Software Engineer / Lead (.NET) Location-Type: Hybrid - Windsor, CT (4 days onsite per week) Start Date: To be confirmed Duration: Contract-to-Hire Compensation Range: $52/hr - $75/hr Benefits: Eligible for Health, Dental, Vision, and 401K Visa Sponsorship: Not eligible for visa sponsorship Job Description: This is a senior individual contributor and technical leadership role responsible for setting architectural direction, driving platform modernization, and raising engineering capability across multiple teams and product lines for the client's enterprise application landscape. Job Summary Lead architectural governance, design reviews, and strategic technology decisions across 4-6 engineering teams spanning multiple product lines. Design scalable, resilient enterprise solutions using modern .NET technologies, defining integration patterns, service ownership models, and system boundaries. Drive modernization of legacy .NET Framework applications to modern .NET platforms using cloud-native, microservices, and event-driven architectures where justified. Champion engineering quality through code reviews, mentorship of senior engineers and technical leads, and establishment of standards adopted across multiple teams. Partner with infrastructure, security, platform, and operations teams to advance CI/CD standardization, Infrastructure as Code, and self-service developer platform capabilities. Embed secure-by-design practices into architecture and delivery standards, contributing to threat modeling, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance. Translate business goals into scalable technical solutions and communicate architectural vision to both technical and executive audiences. Minimum Requirements: 15 years of professional software engineering experience with significant enterprise application development background. Deep expertise in C#, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, and modern .NET platforms, including legacy .NET Framework 4.x for modernization context. Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale distributed systems in production environments. Proven track record of leading technical initiatives across multiple teams without direct authority. Experience delivering cloud-based solutions in a production environment, with Azure preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate technical trade-offs into business terms. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Microsoft Azure at enterprise scale, including platform engineering and internal developer platform practices. Experience leading large-scale legacy modernization or cloud migration programs end-to-end. Experience in a regulated industry such as insurance, financial services, or healthcare. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert. Experience with SRE practices including SLO definition, error budgets, and incident command. Experience integrating AI or GenAI capabilities into enterprise applications.
