About the role:

We are looking for a Electric Distribution Designer to help design and accomplish electric distribution customer projects. You will blend technical design, project coordination, customer interaction, and fieldwork, offering a dynamic and hands-on experience in the utility industry.
You'll help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient electric service delivery while collaborating across engineering, operations, and customer-facing teams.
The Electric Distribution Designer will report to a Design Supervisor or Distribution Engineering Manager and work with a team of electric, service, and gas designers. Your work also involves regular collaboration with operations teams, engineers, and project team members to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage electric distribution projects for residential and commercial customers
  • Perform field assessments and site visits to evaluate project requirements
  • Develop system designs using GE Smallworld (GIS) and other tools
  • Complete tasks such as:
    • Transformer sizing
    • Underground cable routing
    • Pole placement and layout
  • Review and interpret construction plans and customer requirements
  • Coordinate with Operations, Distribution Engineers, and our teams to ensure system reliability
  • Communicate with customers to explain project scope, timelines, and technical details
  • Support permitting and project documentation

Qualifications:
  • Highschool diploma/GED
  • Basic electrical knowledge or interest in the utility industry
