Job Summary
We are seeking individuals to join our client's team as Patient Access Technician in the Emergency Department (ED). In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and families, ensuring a positive, efficient, and professional registration experience. You will be responsible for patient registration, insurance verification, admissions processing, and maintaining accurate patient records while supporting patient flow in a fast-paced hospital environment. This position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform effectively in high-stress situations.
Job Description
  • Greet and assist patients and families in a courteous and professional manner
  • Collect, verify, and update patient demographic information
  • Verify insurance eligibility and coverage accurately
  • Collect co-payments and process financial information as required
  • Obtain and process consents (in person, by phone, or through legal authorization when applicable)
  • Scan and upload documents into the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Complete patient registrations and admissions for the Emergency Department and Children's Pavilion
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation
  • Support multiple departments within the hospital as needed
  • Ensure smooth patient flow through efficient registration processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Strong customer service skills with a patient-centered approach
  • Insurance verification and eligibility knowledge (required)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume Emergency Department environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Education/Training/Certifications

Additional requirements
  • Shift Hours: 8a-430p and every other weekend
Pay Rate
  • $25 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
