Reporting directly to the Senior Manager Gamma Engineering, the MechanicalEngineeris responsible for design, review, and verification ofmechanicalsystems used at Sterigenics facilities. The position will interact with Engineering personnel site project managers and maintenance teams as needed to collaborate on new design, change management and structural integrity of existing systems. This position will be directly involved in organizing, updating, maintaining and storing system drawings.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluatesmechanicaland electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs, applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
  • Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods, testing properties.
  • Develop and own themechanicalstandards for the engineering departments
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.May require soliciting observations from site personnel.
  • Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests and collaborates with Engineering SME's and Project Managers
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special services.
  • Maintains system and product data base by writing computer programs and entering data.
  • Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Review existing concepts and drawings for enhancedmechanicalapplications and drive structural or reliable improvements.
  • Review contractor designs and identify risks, opportunities, and design improvements
  • Ensuremechanicaldesigns meet applicable codes and regulations
  • Provide Engineering design calculations as required
  • Ensures system drawings are current, and equipment tagging is accurate and maintained to comply with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance for critical plant equipment across the Sterigenics network
  • Support Engineering and Environmental Health and Safety projects, improvements, and initiatives
  • Properly review, document, and test equipment changes through Change Control procedures (CRs)
  • Directly support capital projects
  • Develop, document, update internalmechanicalsystems and engineering standards
  • Improve overall knowledge and expertise on equipment and systems within Global Engineering

Experience and Skills Required

  • MechanicalEngineering degree required with minimum7-10years of experience in design ofmechanicaland/or industrial manufacturing, power, or from design build firms. (PE) license is a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills in using computer systems and software such as Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Pro E, Revit, Creo, SolidWorks and use of FEA (finite element analysis) extensively to document designs are structurally safe
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on most projects but maintain soft skills for collaboration and guidance
  • Experience in regulated industries a strong plus
  • Requires the ability to supervise contract services and ensure contract deliverables are met for on time and to the required standards given
  • Help acquire and maintain supplier approvals for Engineering firms, vendors where applicable
  • Requires working with vendors and/or procurement to build and sustain cost savings relationships and drive efficient deliverables to internal customers
  • Remains organized and professional
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%
