As a Structural Engineer I in our Overland Park, KS office, you will help us empower our clients to meet the challenges of rapidly evolving energy sources and utility distribution through new technology, new designs, retrofits and repair of structural systems for all types of facilities.

Why we need you:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to approach design in unconventional ways, apply your knowledge while working on significant and complex projects, work alongside professionals known for advanced engineering solutions, and learn within a friendly, supportive environment. Not only does AEI design energy and utility facilities we also provide services for process facilities, pharmaceuticals / healthcare designing clean rooms and patient facilities to industrial/manufacturing facilities for various types of products. You will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer throughout a project from conception, through design and into construction. Specific activities will include:

  • Assisting with producing, modifying and reviewing design documents for a variety of projects. No two projects are ever the same.
  • Assisting in designing structural systems and components for project needs and requirements.
  • Assisting in the design of deep and shallow foundations for equipment and buildings.
  • Assisting with designing steel support structures for all types of equipment along with supporting mechanical and electrical distribution systems.  
  • Assisting in the design of concrete and masonry structures and walls.
  • Assisting with client presentations, shop drawing review and contract administration.
  • Assisting with performing field inspections, measurements or calculations.

Effective skills to help you flourish:

  • BSCE/ BS ARCE from ABET accredited school.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE).
  • Basic knowledge of standard structural systems, engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Basic computer skills include structural analysis programs (RISA Suite), AutoCAD and BIM (Revit).
  • Strong spoken and written communications skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Quick technical comprehension and motivation focused on client outcomes.
  • Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Effective working individually and within team environments.
