Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a Research & Development Technician for a 1 year contract opportunity in Wilmington, DE. This role supports advanced chemical and materials analysis in a hands-on laboratory environment, with a focus on sample preparation, FIB-SEM imaging, and analytical data review.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career science or engineering professional to gain valuable experience with specialized laboratory instrumentation and materials characterization techniques. The position offers structured daytime training before moving to second shift, along with the chance to work closely with experienced technical team members in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare laboratory samples using mechanical polishers, plasma or sputter coaters, and FIB-SEM sample preparation techniques.
- Perform FIB-SEM imaging, EDS, and EBSD analyses to support research and development activities.
- Review, organize, and document analytical data for technical reporting and team review.
- Complete routine instrument maintenance and help ensure equipment is operating properly.
- Follow established laboratory safety, chemical handling, and waste-disposal procedures.
- Coordinate workflow and handoffs with the first-shift FIB-SEM operator.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay: $20 to $30 per hour.
- Contract duration: 1 year, with annual renewal potential.
- Location: Wilmington, DE 19803.
- Work style: 100% on-site.
- Shift: Second shift, approximately 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM.
- Training: Approximately 3 months of daytime training from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM before transitioning to second shift.
