Sr Platform Scripting Engineer – Contract – Remote – $65.00 - $78.00/hr.

Our client is seeking a Sr Platform Scripting Engineer for a Remote Opportunity.
Role Description
Development & Enforcement
• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable Bash, Python, and PowerShell scripts for infrastructure provisioning and operational automation
• Architect and optimize CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance with engineering standards
• Develop and enforce best practices for scripting, logging, error handling, and idempotent operations
• Standardize code quality through testing frameworks, validation checks, and reusable modules
Collaboration & Expertise
• Partner with platform engineers, DevOps teams, and developers to translate infrastructure needs into automation solutions
• Act as a subject matter expert for scripting, CI/CD, and automation tooling within the organization
• Collaborate across teams to improve developer experience, platform workflows, and operational processes
• Provide technical input on architecture decisions related to automation and tooling
Analysis & Configuration
• Analyze infrastructure workflows and identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
• Develop and maintain configuration frameworks using Terraform, Kustomize, and YAML-based systems
• Evaluate and optimize platform pipelines (Terraform validation, KCC manifests, container builds) for performance and reliability
• Continuously assess system health, costs, and resource utilization through custom tooling
Operational Support
• Build and maintain scripts for GKE operations including cluster upgrades, node pool scaling, and diagnostics
• Automate GCP services such as Secret Manager lifecycle operations (creation, rotation, access policies)
• Develop tooling for JFrog Artifactory including artifact lifecycle management and repository automation
• Create monitoring and diagnostic scripts for incident response, log analysis, and system debugging
• Maintain and enhance runner image build pipelines for Linux, Windows, Android, and iOS environments
Mentorship & Training
• Mentor junior engineers on scripting best practices, automation design patterns, and CI/CD implementation
• Provide guidance on debugging, testing, and maintaining automation frameworks
• Contribute to knowledge sharing through documentation, code reviews, and internal workshops
Innovation and Research
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies in automation, DevOps, and cloud platforms
• Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and practices to enhance platform efficiency and scalability
• Introduce innovative automation approaches to reduce operational overhead and improve reliability
Strategic Planning
• Contribute to long-term platform automation strategy and roadmap
• Identify gaps in tooling and processes and propose scalable solutions
• Support capacity planning, cost optimization, and platform modernization initiatives
• Influence standards and governance for platform automation across teams
Skills & Requirements
• Strong experience in platform engineering, infrastructure automation, or DevOps scripting
• Advanced Bash scripting (modular design, error handling, logging, idempotency)
• Strong Python scripting for API integrations, tooling, and automation frameworks
• Experience with PowerShell for Windows-based automation
• Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
• Hands-on experience with GCP CLI tools (gcloud, kubectl, gsutil)
• Working knowledge of Terraform (HCL, plan/apply cycles, debugging)
• Strong proficiency with YAML (Kubernetes manifests, Kustomize, CI/CD workflows)
• Solid Linux systems administration experience (networking, processes, system services)
• Experience with Git workflows, branching strategies, and code review processes
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent practical experience may be considered
• Strong experience with GKE and Kubernetes ecosystem
• Experience with JFrog Artifactory, Nexus, or similar artifact management tools
• Hands-on experience building and managing Docker/container workflows
• Familiarity with policy-as-code tools such as OPA/Rego
• Experience managing Windows Server environments for CI/CD runners
• Exposure to cost optimization, observability, and platform monitoring tools
