Kubernetes Platform Engineer
Location: Beavercreek, OH/Wright-Patterson AFB (Onsite)
Clearance: Project requires candidates to have an active TS/SCI clearance at a minimum to start
Role Overview
As a DevOps engineer, you will develop, manage, and secure a container platform that meets client needs and takes advantage of cloud capabilities. This role involves developing container management software to solve complex challenges. You will use your technical skills to affect mission-forward change, honing your abilities with the latest cloud technologies. Your responsibilities include improving the client's environment with current container software, informing strategy and design, and ensuring standards are met throughout the containerization process.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage, and secure a container platform.
  • Develop container management software to solve client challenges.
  • Inform strategy and design for containerization processes.
  • Ensure standards are met throughout the containerization process.
  • Recommend resources to help manage and securely adopt containers.
  • Support the development of critical cloud platforms.
Required Qualifications
Education: A High School diploma or GED is required.
Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in platform engineering or systems engineering within classified environments.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud environments, programming languages, and supporting CI/CD.
  • Experience supporting Kubernetes networking, including concepts such as Services, Ingress, network policies, load balancing, DNS, and Container Network Interface (CNI) technologies.
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting networks supporting containerized or microservices-based applications.
  • Experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code, using technologies such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Experience operating production Kubernetes clusters and creating technical documentation, system diagrams, and SOPs.
  • Experience with Linux-based systems such as RedHat or CentOS, Linux administration, and networking, particularly in environments supporting Kubernetes or container platforms.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes networking, container registry management, and image-hardening approaches.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating AWS EKS.
  • Experience managing and deploying applications in an air-gapped environment.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and working on Agile teams using collaboration tools, including Jira, Confluence, or Discourse.
  • Experience with technologies such as Calico, Cilium, Flannel, Istio, service mesh, VMware NSX, Cisco ACI, F5, cloud networking, Helm, Terraform, and GitOps.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native tooling or vulnerability-analysis concepts.
  • Knowledge of modernization frameworks used across mission programs.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a technical discipline.
