Job Description

Position               : Python/Teradata Engineer

Location               : Plano, TX / Charlotte, NC Hybrid (3 days onsite 2 days remote)

Duration              : 12 months Contract (with high possibilities of extension)

Primary focus    : Build frameworks, conduct POCs, and integrate Python-based automation and analytics with Teradata.

Framework & Tooling Development:

  • Develop Python-based frameworks for automation, data processing, orchestration, and Teradata interactions (using teradatasql, pyodbc, etc.).
  • Build reusable modular libraries for logging, error handling, connection pooling, monitoring, and ETL/ELT operations.
  • Create CI/CD pipelines for Python applications running on Teradata platforms.
  • POC Evaluation & Capability Enablement
  • Perform Proof-of-Concept evaluations for new technologies, tools, and frameworks to extend platform capabilities.
  • Analyze potential integrations (Python APIs, LLM tools, data processing engines) and validate their performance and security within the bank’s ecosystem.
  • Present feasibility reports, architectural considerations, and implementation recommendations.

Development & Testing:

  • Design, develop, and test Python applications, ETL logic, and automation pipelines connected to Teradata.
  • Create unit tests, functional tests, and automated regression suites following enterprise QA standards.
  • Production Support & Operational Excellence
  • Support production applications running Python–Teradata workflows.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving data connectivity, query performance, and job failures.
  • Optimize code for concurrency, efficiency, exception handling, and platform resiliency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work with data engineers, DBAs, system architects, and platform engineering to ensure consistent integration patterns.
  • Document new capabilities and train internal teams on framework adoption.
