Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an AI Systems Engineer in Atlanta, GA.
Solve the Problems That Matter Most:
The AI Systems Engineer is a developing technical contributor responsible for building, testing, and maintaining AI-powered automation components under the guidance of senior engineering and process leadership. This role executes on defined automation specifications-integrating APIs, configuring agentic workflows, and instrumenting systems for observability-while building the foundational expertise needed to take on increasingly complex, end-to-end agentic builds over time. The AI Systems Engineer brings genuine curiosity about emerging AI tooling and a disciplined approach to producing reliable, documented, production-ready code. The candidate reports to the Senior Director, Agentic Operations.
How You Will Make an Impact:
* Execute the development of agentic workflow components including tool integrations, prompt logic, and error handling from engineering specifications
* Build and maintain API integrations connecting AI agents to internal systems, third-party SaaS platforms, and databases
* Implement observability components within assigned agentic systems including logging, alerting configurations, and exception tracking
* Develop and maintain Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) checkpoint logic within defined automation workflows
* Coordinate internal testing of assigned automation components and document test cases and results
* Maintain technical documentation for assigned builds including code comments, architecture notes, and runbook contributions
* Support process audit activities by gathering and organizing workflow data, system logs, and integration details
* Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures
* Perform all other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; Equivalent experience or bootcamp training considered
* Typically requires 1-5 years of professional experience; 1-3 years of software development or technical engineering experience with exposure to Python and API integration preferred
* Working proficiency in Python with the ability to write clean and functional scripts
* Exposure to at least one LLM framework or AI tool such as LangChain, OpenAI API, or LlamaIndex
* Foundational API integration skills using REST and familiarity with authentication basics
* Basic SQL proficiency with the ability to write queries and understand data schemas
* Experience using version control such as Git for branching, committing, and pull requests
* Familiarity with cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform at a conceptual level
* Ability to follow and implement defined engineering specifications accurately
* Developing ability to read and interpret system logs and performance data to identify anomalies
* Strong collaboration skills with the ability to ask clear and specific questions to resolve blockers
* Ability to write clear and accurate technical documentation
