Job Title: Contracts Manager

Location: South San Francisco, CA 94080

Employment Type: W2 Contract โ€“ 6 Months with the Possibility of Extension

Pay Rate: $40.44 โ€“ $43.44/hour (determined by experience, paid weekly)

Shift: Monday โ€“ Friday | 8-Hour Shifts

Work Model: Hybrid (3 Days Onsite, 2 Days Remote)

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking a Contracts Manager to support the Outgoing Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) Program in South San Francisco, CA. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of outgoing MTAs while partnering with research scientists, legal teams, academic institutions, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate agreement execution.

The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of scientific terminology, experience managing agreements in a fast-paced environment, and excellent organizational and communication skills. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career contracts professional interested in supporting research and scientific collaborations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of outgoing Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs).
  • Process and administer a high-volume portfolio of MTAs while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Communicate agreement status and updates with research scientists, leadership, legal counsel, technology transfer offices, and academic institutions.
  • Prioritize and manage a high volume of daily email correspondence while maintaining professional and timely communication.
  • Organize and obtain signatures for outgoing MTAs following established procedures.
  • Complete post-execution activities, including distribution of executed agreements, legal records filing, database updates, and shipment coordination.
  • Coordinate import/export documentation and resolve shipment-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate agreement records, including party information, effective dates, and expiration dates within the MTA database.
  • Support administrative activities, including filing, meeting coordination, and data entry.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes while following established procedures and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 2โ€“4 years of experience in contract administration, legal operations, research administration, paralegal support, or a related field.
  • Experience drafting, processing, or managing agreements.
  • Basic understanding of Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) and contract terminology.
  • Foundational understanding of scientific terminology, including laboratory reagents, antibodies, plasmids, DNA, genetically modified animal models, and related research materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace.
  • Experience working with databases and enterprise business systems.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline required.
  • Legal education, paralegal studies, or contract management coursework is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, university, or research environments.
  • Experience managing Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs).
