The Production Technician is responsible for optimizing the production process, ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of equipment and systems, and conducting routine inspections and maintenance tasks. The technician works closely with the production team, including engineers and lease operators, to maintain safe operating conditions, troubleshoot and rectify equipment issues, and implement production plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, and adjust production equipment, including pumps, separators, compressors, and valves, to optimize production and maintain safe operating conditions.
  • Perform routine checks and inspections of production equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance, identify potential issues, and prevent equipment failure.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and repair work on production equipment, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and rectifying faults.
  • Work with other members of the production team, including engineers, geologists, and lease operators, to optimize production rates, identify new reserves, and implement production plans.
  • Implement and adhere to safety procedures, policies, and regulations to ensure the health and safety of all personnel and the protection of the environment.
  • Perform tests and analysis of oil, gas, and water samples to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of production plans, including start-ups, shutdowns, and routine maintenance.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including production reports, maintenance logs, incident reports, and other records as required.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay up-to-date with industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, Licensure
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Process Technology, Engineering) is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in a production or operations role.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain complex equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, regulations, and best practices within the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to use industry-specific software for monitoring and reporting
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including exposure to inclement weather, confined spaces, and heights.
  • Willingness to work on a rotational schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
