Job Summary:
As the Principal RF Engineer, you will provide technical expertise in the analysis, design, fabrication, test, and integration of complex RF subassemblies or RF Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) that support radar and datalink applications for a tactical missile program. A critical aspect of this role involves designing RF/Digital technology to meet challenging mechanical constraints and extreme environments. You will collaborate with various engineering disciplines, program leadership, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, mission-critical solutions that align with program goals and timelines.
This is an onsite role based in McKinney, TX.
What You Will Do:
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure all RF efforts meet program goals and requirements.
  • Design and develop receivers, converters, and signal processors.
  • Design circuit card assemblies (CCAs) with RF or mixed signals.
  • Create and ensure proper review of all documentation for the CCA, including analyses, schematics, interface drawings, test plans, and specifications.
  • Perform schematic capture and review RF routing.
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams - power, digital, mechanical, etc.
  • Work in a lab environment to accomplish component characterization, as well as CCA verification and integration.
  • Conduct comprehensive RF CCA/module checkout in accordance with the developed test plan and validate against the requirements matrix.
  • Ensure compliance with technical performance standards and program requirements.
  • Periodic travel may be required.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to include any combination of the following areas:
  • Experience in advanced RF technologies such as receivers, Analog-to-Digital Converters, downconverters, and frequency synthesizers.
  • Experience in RF, analog, digital, and power electronics design methodologies, as well as integration & test, simulation and analysis of RF products.
  • Experience with any combination of the following tools: Signal generator, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, Xpedition Schematic/Layout Tool or equivalent, SystemVue/Genesys or equivalent, Advanced Design System (ADS) or equivalent, High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) or equivalent.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Highly self-motivated individual with ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while effectively collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Experience in architecting and defining requirements for complex RF products.
  • Advanced understanding of RF and microwave system integration, system-level trades, and performance optimization.
  • Ability to prepare technical review documentation with minimal oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of RF/Digital electronics and hands-on experience across all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Expertise in the design and testing of the following areas:
  • Cascade analysis and/or frequency planning.
  • Circuit card assembly design and fabrication.
  • High-speed data converter test/characterization.
  • Designing or testing RF hybrid (chip & wire) technologies.
  • Experience in writing proposals and developing Basis of Estimates (BOEs).
  • Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, including yield and margin analysis.
