Sales Engineer – Remote (Contiguous U.S.)

A leading power electronics engineering and manufacturing firm is seeking an Engineering Sales Representative to join its growing sales team. This role supports technical sales of both custom and standard products and reports directly to the department manager.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics hardware manufacturing and be able to effectively communicate the technical aspects of AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC converters and inverters, along with other power electronics-related products. Experience in defense systems, mission computing, shipboard/marine electronics, and/or aircraft systems is highly valued, as many customers operate within the defense sector.

This is a customer-facing role, requiring excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. The candidate must be comfortable engaging with engineering, program management, procurement, and military leadership personnel.

Cross-functional collaboration is essential, as the role involves working with internal engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and support teams to develop custom solutions and contribute to product strategy. The candidate will analyze customer needs, monitor competitor offerings, and provide strategic input to help shape future product development. Experience in preparing and reviewing detailed proposals tailored to customer requirements is a plus, as is the ability to build external partnerships that expand company capabilities.


Key Responsibilities Technical Expertise & Solution Development

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor and build strong customer relationships
  • Analyze market trends, competitors, and emerging technologies
  • Participate in strategic planning meetings for sales, product development, and departmental growth
Sales Support & Customer Engagement
  • Influence customer part selection and position products competitively
  • Partner with commercial sales and engineering teams to drive customer success
  • Conduct on-site visits across the U.S.
  • Attend and exhibit at defense and industry events
  • Qualify and respond to leads promptly
  • Review RFQs and assess feasibility
  • Prepare quotes, proposals, and presentations
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM software
  • Participate in contract negotiations
  • Meet or exceed sales targets
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in the defense industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) REQUIRED
  • Technical background in electronics system design and manufacturing
  • Familiarity with power converters and related specifications
  • Proficiency with CRM systems for lead tracking, quoting, and reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • High ethical standards, dependability, and professionalism
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically (~25%)

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of experience selling to defense contractors or directly to the DoD
  • Knowledge of defense industry standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704
  • Eligibility or ability to obtain U.S. security clearance
