Job description

Brayman Construction Corporation, a leading heavy civil and geotechnical contractor with office headquarters in Saxonburg, is seeking a full-time experienced Superintendent to join our growing team in Evansville, IN. JOB SUMMARY

The Superintendent is responsible for assigned construction projects and will lead, manage and oversee overall project work plans and progress for the projects assigned. The Superintendent works closely with the General Superintendent of the region to ensure that the focus remains on company goals, such as safety, quality and workmanship that meets the Company and Owner standards.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees and supervises field staff, craftworkers, and subcontractors.
  • Interviews and makes hiring recommendations for non-union field staff.
  • Prepares work schedules and assignments.
  • Communicates and enforces safety procedures.
  • Leads the project foremen performing all types of general contracting work, including specialty foundations, concrete, bridge/structures, shoring, excavation, drainage and utilities in addition to post tension concrete.
  • Helps develop schedules, work plans and productions during the bidding process and will monitor work plans and productions in the field after project award.
  • Works with the General Superintendent to coordinate the hiring and movement schedules of operational employees and equipment within the region assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with safety plans, work plans and project specifications and monitors the performance of craftworkers and employees.
  • Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to owners and architects; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
  • Trains and develops employees within current and future roles to meet both employee and company growth.
  • Works closely with regional General Superintendent to develop strategic growth plans, yearly budgets, equipment purchase plans, and employee capacity.
  • Collaborates with architect, engineer, Owners, and other pertinent stakeholders to ensure project specifications, requirements, and other regulations are met.
  • Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans are followed.
  • Confirms required permits and licenses are obtained; executes construction contracts according to terms of agreement.
  • Monitors budgets throughout the assigned projects and communicates variances as they occur.
  • Ensures projects maintain records related to costs, quantities installed and inventory.
  • Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies.
  • Processes timesheets related to activities performed each given day for employees and equipment.
  • Conducts daily Tool Box Talks and JSA's and weekly safety inspections of the overall site.
  • Ensures proper equipment is being used onsite for all functions of the work.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field or the equivalent experience in heavy civil construction required.
  • At least 5 years of heavy civil or foundation construction experience is required.
  • Exposure to complex bridge structures or other infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing heavy civil construction projects, preferably structure related, with multiple trades and numerous craft persons is required.
  • Experience with federal/state/DOT contracts, specifications, reports and records is required.
  • Experience with trade supervision including performance evaluations.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is required to be obtained.

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with carious safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a federal contractor.
