About the Role
As a Kubernetes Container Platform Engineer (PaaS & CaaS), you will design, implement, and operate container platforms with a strong focus on automation and infrastructure-as-code. You'll collaborate with engineering teams to leverage both infrastructure and public cloud services, enabling self-service automation and orchestration. This role involves platform administration, client onboarding, upgrades, and global standardization of container services across the enterprise.
You will be part of a small, agile team of architects and engineers, building platform services that support the lifecycle of container platforms and simplify adoption for over 20,000 developers and DevOps teams.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and operate container services platforms integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate processes to improve efficiency and eliminate repetitive manual tasks.
  • Diagnose, replicate, and resolve technical issues reported on PaaS and CaaS platforms.
  • Develop maintainable, reusable software with a consumer-first mindset.
  • Escalate unresolved issues requiring deeper expertise in a timely manner.
  • Manage support requests and maintain communication with business unit customers.
  • Report product defects and collaborate with engineering teams to triage issues.
  • Create and review knowledge base articles and product documentation.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree + 3 years of relevant experience OR advanced degree + 4 years of experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience building and maintaining container platforms (PAS/TAS, PKS/TKGI, OpenShift).
  • Hands-on experience deploying Kubernetes on at least one public IaaS provider (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Alibaba).
  • Strong background in UNIX/Linux and Windows administration.
  • Experience with configuration management at scale (hundreds/thousands of servers).
  • Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, DNS).
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and virtualization (VMware).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Concourse, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy, etc.).
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, GitHub, GitLab).
  • Background in DevOps and agile methodologies.
  • On-call support experience.

Preferred:
  • Proficiency in Go and Python.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code APIs (Swagger).
  • Knowledge of identity, access, and certificate management.
  • Experience with observability tools (Splunk, Fluentd, PrometheGrafana, Wavefront, AppDynamics).
  • Familiarity with .NET Core and .NET Framework.
  • Experience with policy engines (Open Policy Agent).
  • NSX, NSX-T, Panorama experience.
  • Experience with vSphere7 and Tanzu Kubernetes Grid.
