Contract Packer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Contract Packer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract Packer, you need strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow instructions, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with packaging machinery, conveyor systems, and safety protocols is often required, and some employers may prefer experience with inventory management software. Reliability, teamwork, and time management are important soft skills that help ensure efficient workflow and meet production deadlines. These skills and qualities are essential for maintaining product quality, workplace safety, and meeting client expectations in a fast-paced environment.

What are contract packers?

Contract packers, also known as co-packers, are companies or service providers that specialize in packaging products for other businesses. They handle the packaging process, which can include assembling, packing, labeling, and sometimes even shipping products on behalf of their clients. This allows companies to outsource their packaging needs and focus on other aspects of their business, such as production and marketing. Contract packers are commonly used in industries like food and beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods.

What are some common challenges faced by Contract Packers in maintaining product quality, and how are they addressed?

Contract Packers often face challenges such as meeting diverse client specifications, ensuring the integrity of packaging materials, and adhering to strict quality control standards. To address these challenges, packers follow detailed standard operating procedures, participate in regular training sessions, and collaborate closely with quality assurance teams. Job Title: Forklift OperatorJob Description

This short-term Forklift Operator position focuses on safely loading and unloading trailers, stacking pallets, and supporting the palletizing team to prepare skids for outgoing orders in a beverage filling and packing facility. You will operate both sit-down and stand-up forklifts, handle trays weighing up to 25 pounds, and follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards to maintain a clean and compliant production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts to safely load and unload trailers.
  • Stack pallets efficiently and accurately to support warehouse and production operations.
  • Work closely with the palletizing team to prepare skids for customer orders.
  • Handle trays and materials weighing up to 25 pounds throughout the shift.
  • Perform packing and picking tasks as needed to support the packaging line.
  • Follow established procedures for palletizing, packaging, and material handling.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure correct product handling and order accuracy.
  • Comply with all GMP requirements, including use of hairnets, beard coverings, and removal of jewelry.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
  • Communicate clearly in English to follow instructions and coordinate with team members.
  • Adhere to scheduled shift times and adjust to changing workload demands during the assignment.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience operating sit-down forklifts for loading and unloading trailers.
  • Proven experience operating stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with stacking and palletizing materials.
  • Packing and picking experience in a packaging line or warehouse setting.
  • Strong English comprehension to read, understand, and follow instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle trays weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production or packaging environment.
  • Willingness to follow GMP manufacturing standards, including required protective attire and hygiene rules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a beverage filling or packing facility is an asset.
  • Experience working in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order preparation and palletizing.

This short-term assignment offers the opportunity to gain or expand experience in a GMP manufacturing setting, working alongside a supportive team that values clear communication and collaboration. The role provides exposure to both day and night shifts, allowing you to demonstrate your skills, build your resume, and potentially extend your engagement based on operational needs.

Work Environment

This role is based in a beverage filling and packing facility that operates under GMP manufacturing standards.
