We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator (Infrastructure DBA) to join our team. This role will involve providing critical database support for large and complex Oracle environments, ensuring high availability, and supporting multiple Tier-2 enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Oracle database administration, high-availability environments, and enterprise-level production database support.

Location: Lansing, Michigan (Hybrid)
Duration: Ongoing contract with possibility of extension
 
 
Job Description:
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator to provide infrastructure DBA support for multiple enterprise-level Oracle databases. This position is critical to maintaining the stability and performance of large and complex database environments that support major applications such as Master Person Index and other high-impact public sector systems.
The selected candidate will work in a hybrid environment and support Oracle databases in a 24x7 operational setting (no mandatory on-call).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide infrastructure DBA support for complex Oracle database environments
  • Support multiple versions of Oracle (18c and above)
  • Ensure high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) for enterprise databases
  • Monitor database performance, integrity, and availability across environments
  • Install database software, patches, upgrades, and service packs
  • Monitor disk usage, space allocation, and capacity planning
  • Execute scripts for database object creation and modification (tables, indexes, constraints, etc.)
  • Monitor database jobs, scheduled processes, and system logs
  • Support clustered database and replication environments
  • Troubleshoot production database issues and outages
  • Follow and enforce database standards, policies, and best practices
  • Maintain and update system documentation

Required Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience
  • Strong experience with Oracle 18c and newer versions
  • Experience supporting high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) environments
  • Experience supporting database replication and backup solutions
  • Experience working with clustered database environments
  • Strong experience monitoring and troubleshooting production databases
  • 5+ years of experience creating and maintaining technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with the State of Michigan
