CAREER OPPORTUNITY | MULTIPLE OPENINGS

Trades Laborer / Maintenance Helper

Entry-Level | Electrical, Plumbing, or Carpentry Interest

Openings: 3–6
Location: Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia
Schedule: Part-time, day assignments, on-call, or project-based; additional hours may become available

Position Summary

TeamGOV is seeking dependable, motivated individuals to support general labor, maintenance, repair, and construction assignments throughout the DMV area. This is an entry-level opportunity for candidates with basic experience or an interest in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, general maintenance, or construction.

Extensive trade experience is not required. Candidates should be willing to learn, follow instructions, work safely, and assist experienced technicians and supervisors.

Essential Duties

• Perform general labor, site preparation, cleanup, material handling, and project-support duties.

• Assist technicians and supervisors with routine maintenance and repair assignments.

• Help with basic electrical tasks, such as handling materials, preparing work areas, and assisting with fixtures, switches, outlets, and related components.

• Assist with minor plumbing work involving faucets, fixtures, toilets, supply lines, leaks, and basic drain issues.

• Support basic carpentry and repair work involving doors, hardware, trim, drywall, patching, painting, and finish work.

• Gather tools and materials, maintain clean work areas, and properly store equipment.

• Follow instructions, use required protective equipment, and comply with all jobsite safety requirements.

• Report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, safety hazards, and material needs to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Interest in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, general maintenance, construction, or a related trade.

• Basic experience using common hand tools is helpful but not required.

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

• Dependable attendance, professional behavior, and willingness to learn new skills.

• Ability to report to assigned jobsites throughout the DMV area.

• Ability to satisfy any project-specific background screening or site-access requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous general labor, maintenance, construction, warehouse, landscaping, or trade-support experience.

• High school diploma, GED, vocational training, apprenticeship experience, OSHA 10, or another relevant credential.

• Basic experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall, or general repairs.

• Experience working in occupied commercial buildings or government facilities.

Physical, Schedule, and Work Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, climb ladders, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Willingness to use required protective equipment and work safely around tools, dust, noise, mechanical spaces, and changing weather conditions.

• Availability for assignments that may vary by day, location, project duration, and customer need.

Work Arrangement

These positions may initially involve individual day assignments, part-time schedules, on-call work, or short-term projects. Hours and locations will vary based on available work.
