Position Summary

Design, develop, and scale backend-heavy PHP systems for EBPP (Electronic Bill Presentment & Payment), client portals, and print/mail production. Lead data processing, API integrations, GitLab CI/CD, and RabbitMQ queues; support jQuery/HTML frontends. Drive SOC2/PCI compliance and efficiency.

Hybrid Schedule - 2 days in office at our Anaheim Location and 3 days remote.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm PST

We are flexible for starting times between 7:30am-6:00pm PST.

What you will do:

  • Develop/maintain PHP backend services, REST APIs for EBPP job submission, invoice processing, and production tracking, and consumer queues (message queues).
  • Own GitLab CI/CD pipelines; manage version control, testing, and rollouts.
  • Integrate data workflows; optimize SQL databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) for high-volume transactions
  • Align backend with jQuery/HTML client portals (e.g., job submission forms, previews)
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve system issues in a timely manner
  • Contribute to IT modernization of client portals from jQuery/HTML to React/Next.js + Tailwind CSS; prototype new UIs with AI tools
  • Document code / architecture; lead code reviews, process improvements, deployments/migrations
  • Ensure application security (OAuth), data integrity, and compliance with industry standards (including SOC, HIPAA, PCI, if applicable, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience as a backend developer or software engineer
  • Strong proficiency in web programming languages (such as PHP 8+, JavaScript)
  • Experience building APIs, microservices, or distributed applications
  • GitLab CI/CD mastery and full SDLC ownership
  • Strong SQL experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server)
  • Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ preferred) for distributed systems
  • React/Next.js + Tailwind CSS experience preferred for IT modernization effort
  • Experience with AI Prototyping tools for IT modernization effort
  • Understanding of authentication, authorization, and secure coding best practices
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Linux development experience is a plus
