What is a contract mortgage field inspector?

Contract Mortgage Field Inspectors are independent contractors hired by banks, mortgage companies, or inspection firms to assess the condition and occupancy status of properties. Their main duties include visiting properties, taking photos, verifying occupancy, and reporting any visible damages or maintenance issues. These inspections help lenders ensure that their assets are being properly maintained and to mitigate risks associated with defaulted or foreclosed properties. The work is typically flexible, allowing inspectors to set their own schedules, but it requires good attention to detail and reliable transportation. Inspectors usually submit their findings through specialized apps or online systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract mortgage field inspector?

To thrive as a Contract Mortgage Field Inspector, you need a solid understanding of property inspection, real estate principles, and basic report writing, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent experience. Familiarity with inspection software, digital cameras, GPS devices, and sometimes state licensing or certification is typically required. Strong attention to detail, time management, and effective communication with clients and property owners help inspectors stand out. These skills ensure accurate, timely property assessments that are critical for lenders and insurance companies to make informed decisions.

What are some common challenges faced by contract mortgage field inspectors, and how can they be addressed?

Contract Mortgage Field Inspectors often face challenges such as managing a high volume of property inspections across wide geographic areas and dealing with unpredictable schedules due to urgent inspection requests. Navigating different property conditions, weather, and sometimes uncooperative occupants can also make the job demanding. To address these challenges, strong organizational skills, effective route planning, and clear communication with lenders and property owners are essential. Utilizing inspection apps and digital tools can help streamline reporting and reduce time spent on documentation.

Job description

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Organizational Change Management Consultant to support a late-stage technology deployment within a field operations environment.

This engagement is designed for a hands-on, execution-oriented change professional who can quickly drive stakeholder engagement, communications, readiness activities, training alignment, and adoption support. The project involves a machine learning-enabled operational tool designed to improve field inspection efficiency, enhance decision-making, reduce risk, and increase data visibility for employees and stakeholders supporting field-based operations.

This is a full-time contract opportunity expected to run from August 2026 through March 2027.

What You'll Do
  • Lead day-to-day change management execution for a late-stage technology deployment supporting field operations
  • Develop and support stakeholder engagement plans to increase awareness, readiness, and adoption among impacted employees
  • Create clear communications that help field teams, operational leaders, and business stakeholders understand what is changing, why it matters, and how it affects their work
  • Partner with project teams, field operations leaders, business stakeholders, and end users to support adoption
  • Assess change impacts and identify readiness needs across impacted employee groups, including field-facing teams
  • Support training alignment by helping ensure materials, timing, and messaging match user needs in an operational environment
  • Help prepare employees and stakeholders for new workflows, technology-enabled processes, field inspection changes, and greater data visibility
  • Identify adoption risks, resistance points, communication gaps, and readiness barriers across field and operational teams
  • Recommend practical actions to improve user understanding, acceptance, and sustained usage
  • Coordinate with internal teams to support go-live preparation, post-deployment adoption, and ongoing reinforcement
  • Track change activities, stakeholder feedback, readiness progress, and adoption-related next steps
  • Provide hands-on support to help the organization sustain new ways of working across field operations
What We're Looking For
  • Strong Organizational Change Management experience, preferably supporting technology or operational transformation projects
  • Experience supporting field operations, utility operations, inspection teams, asset management, or other field-based work environments strongly preferred
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, communications, readiness planning, training alignment, and adoption support
  • Ability to operate in a late-stage deployment environment with limited time to influence adoption
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical or operational changes into clear, practical messaging for field teams, leaders, and impacted users
  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams, project stakeholders, business leaders, field operations leaders, and end users
  • Strong execution mindset with the ability to move quickly, organize work, and drive deliverables
  • Ability to identify adoption risks and recommend practical mitigation steps
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience supporting AI, machine learning, analytics, data visibility, or decision-support technology deployments is a plus
Contract Details
  • Full-time contract role
  • 40 hours per week
  • Expected duration of approximately 36 weeks
  • Anticipated timeline: August 2026 through March 2027
  • Remote or hybrid arrangement may be considered based on project needs
  • Focused role supporting stakeholder engagement, communications, readiness, training alignment, and adoption across field operations and operational stakeholder groups
Why This Role Stands Out

This is a strong opportunity for an OCM consultant who enjoys execution-focused change work tied to technology adoption and operational improvement. The role offers the chance to support a meaningful deployment that helps field and operational teams understand, embrace, and sustain new ways of working while improving inspection efficiency, risk reduction, data visibility, and decision-making.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
