Director of Electrical Data Center Construction – Nashville, TN 
Our client is an established Electrical Contracting Firm that is a leader in the Data Center / Mission Critical Facilities Market. They build mission-critical facilities for data center facilities nationwide for Enterprise, Colocation and Hyperscale Companies. They provide electrical contractors, journeyman electricians, foremen, designers, electrical commissioning, operations / maintenance, and management expertise for their clients' critical power needs. This opportunity provides a career-growth minded role with exciting projects with leading-edge technology and innovation as well as competitive salaries and benefits.

We are looking for a Director of Electrical Data Center Construction to support Critical Facility construction in addition to Critical Healthcare projects. They will be responsible for all aspects of managing a data center electrical construction project. This will include providing leadership to contractors and vendors associated with the delivery of company projects. The candidate will have overall responsibility for the delivery of assigned projects on budget, on time and assurance that the project scope and quality meet Company Design Standards and the objectives set for the project.  This will be a client-facing role that requires building strong relationships both in and outside the office. You'll develop through hands-on experience, peer collaboration, and ongoing technical training. The successful candidate will also have to be exceptionally organized and be great with back office work (manage change orders, budgets, paperwork driven, etc.)

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain liaison with clients, various contractors and vendors in order to manage the day to day activities that impact the delivery of company's critical facilities construction projects
  • They will be responsible for overseeing a team of project managers that manage individual projects within the overall project portfolio and provide guidance and direction to the team
  • Solid Project management construction experience; experience managing teams of Construction Professionals, including PMs and Superintendents;  
  • Effective relationships and partnerships with Customers, Vendors, Subcontractors, etc
  • Experience managing multiple Data Center Construction Projects and with Budgets between $10MM to $200MM+
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts (progress billing, rental equipment, income / expenses) to protect the company's interest
  • Full responsibility and control of the financials for the office. In depth understanding of costs, revenue, billings, projections, margin, commitments, AR, AP, etc
  • Ability to analyze and interpret performance metrics, deep dive as necessary to find root cause issues, and implement corrective action with the team
  • Proficient in both project estimates and change order estimates;  Identify scope and gaps;
  • Coordinate and Negotiate vendor and subcontractor quotes, scopes, change orders, and contracts
  • Negotiate change orders and contracts with customers
  • Proficient in scheduling of our work and integration with the GC's schedule
  • Deliver Built to Suit projects with a heavy emphasis on value-engineering
  • Drive Company Standards uniformly as it regards to Project Delivery by all project participants on all projects 
  • Act as key Liaison with managers of all company departments and communicate with internal / external stakeholders in addition to the management team
  • Process and Procedures oriented; Document processes and procedures heavy for all tasks
  • Responsible with balancing what's best for the Company and maintaining relationships with customers
  • Attend local and national professional networking events - 7x24, DICE, AFCOM, etc.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and hold effective meetings
  • Promote corporate culture
  • Identify roles and responsibilities, strengths and weaknesses, creating feedback loops and training opportunities
  • Foster and develop all team members for career growth
  • Work closely with Project Teams to ensure cohesiveness and goal alignment

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing Data Center Construction Projects as a General Contractor or Electrical Contractor
  • Previous experience managing a diverse team of high level construction project managers on multi-million dollar projects
  • Minimum of 5+ years relevant experience in the Data Center Construction Industry
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 + years relevant experience in Electrical Construction Industry
  • 10 + years of managerial experience overseeing  / managing construction project teams, with a focus on electrical systems and installations
  • Bachelor's degree / Associates Degree /  Relevant Certifications a plus
  • Strong in electrical estimating, estimating software, scheduling and budget management
  • Established track record of successfully delivering multiple large-scale electrical construction projects safely, on time, and within budget
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with experience in mentoring and developing project management teams
  • Significant experience with Prefabrication
  • Must be familiar with the design process of building systems for data center and mission critical projects; Exposure to Critical Facilities Design, Architecture, Engineering and Construction Services
  • Client Facing / Client relationship / Client Management skills
  • Possess an extensive network within the mission critical data center facilities market
  • Previous experience in the Military / Military Veterans from all branches a huge plus! Experience with Electrical / Mechanical: Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.
  • Effective Communicator – emails, phone and face to face; Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Commitment to continuous learning and personal/professional development
  • Willingness to travel within the region as needed
  • Ability to work independently; Strong Organizational Skills
  • Solid Admin / back office skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Strong project management software / scheduling software (Microsoft Project, P6 Primavera, etc )
  • Experience with the preconstruction process - job award , pre- installation; experience with VDC projects (2D and 3D modeling)
