Job Title: Adult Education GED Teacher

Part-Time Position: 20 Hours per week (Dardanelle location)

Position Summary:
The Adult Education GED Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, targeted instruction to adult learners seeking to obtain their General Educational Development (GED) credential. The teacher will assess students' individual needs, develop lesson plans aligned with GED standards, and support learners in achieving their educational and workforce goals. This position requires a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for adult students with diverse backgrounds and educational experiences.

Qualifications of Employment:

• Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
• Experience teaching adult learners or working in an educational setting.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) and online learning platforms.
• Ability to administer and interpret standardized assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in education or a related field.
• Current Arkansas teaching license or Adult Education teaching certification.
• Experience preparing students for the GED or other high school equivalency tests.
• Knowledge of the TABE assessment and GED Ready practice tests.
• Bilingual proficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Instructional Delivery:
  • Plan and deliver lessons in core GED subject areas: Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles, academic levels, and needs.
  • Integrate workforce readiness and digital literacy skills into the curriculum.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including technology-based and hands-on learning, to promote engagement and mastery.
• Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
  • Administer and interpret assessments such as the TABE to determine student placement and progress.
  • Monitor student performance and adjust instructional strategies to address learning gaps.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of attendance, assessments, and student progress.
• Student Support:
  • Provide individualized instruction and tutoring to help students overcome challenges in their learning journey.
  • Motivate and support students in setting and achieving personal, academic, and workforce goals.
  • Connect students with resources for addressing barriers, such as transportation, childcare, or access to technology.
• Classroom Management:
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Encourage active participation and collaboration among students.
  • Ensure compliance with program policies and safety protocols.
• Collaboration and Professional Development:
  • Work with staff and administrators to ensure program alignment with state and federal guidelines.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in adult education.
  • Contribute to program initiatives, such as outreach and community partnerships.
