Job Title: Teacher, TOSA - Math Curriculum Lead - (2026-2027) - Adult Basic Education  and Requisition ID number: 104859

Close Date:  No established closing date;  open until filled

Organizational Unit:  Adult Basic Education (10000002) 

Site:  800 West Broadway (0006) 

FTE:  .20 FTE @ 38 Weeks; this is based on full-time equivalency with 1.0 being full time

Union:  ABE Teachers(06) 

Functional Area:  Teaching 

Salary Range:  55,796 - 116,593

Hours/Location: 

An average of 8 hours weekly around assigned instructional hours. Must be available to support day/evening staff at both sites during the school year as needed. Must be available to meet/train teachers during Back-to-School and ongoing as needed.

Summary: 

Curriculum Leads are teachers in our program who are serving in key content areas to support curriculum access and revision so that teachers can provide high quality instruction.

Goal: 
  • Facilitate the development/articulation of curriculum by completing unit templates & syllabuses

  • Facilitate the selection/development of curricular resources

  • Support develop common assessments and alternate ways to demonstrate competency (culminating projects, etc.)

  • increase technology integration and coaching

    • increase Schoology and Google Drive adoption and implementation

    • train and support teachers to develop assessments and conferencing resources

    • more prescribed support for technology integration

Rationale:
  • To support teachers work with curriculum access and implementation

  • To coordinate curriculum team work to advance the curriculum

  • To identify curriculum needs for current and new classes

Responsibilities:
  1. Leadership within curricular team

    • Strategy 1.1: Answer questions that teachers have about finding resources and materials 

    • Strategy 1.2: Explain, train and provide new teachers with curriculum

    • Strategy 1.3: Communicate and collaborate with teachers through monthly team or individual meetings 

    • Strategy 1.4: Attend staff meetings to be available to teachers as needed

    • Strategy 1.5: Provide guidance with any curricular issues related to the courses assigned 

  2. Curriculum and materials

    • Strategy 2.1: Provide updated course descriptions and benchmarks

    • Strategy 2.2: Share syllabi with pacing guidelines as determined by team for both day/evening sites

    • Strategy 2.3: Maintain and update teacher guides, including updating links

    • Strategy 2.4: Maintain reference rooms organization at both campuses.

    • Strategy 2.5: Complete book inventories (as needed) and supply classrooms with core materials (by trimester)

    • Strategy 2.6: Guide the selection of new materials and supervise pilot

    • Strategy 2.7: Write project proposals for new curriculum (such as hiring someone to create ELL Math curriculum)

    • Strategy 2.8: Order books, supplemental materials, additional textbooks, etc. 

    • Strategy 2.9: Order packets from the copy center as needed

    • Strategy 2.10: Maintain, organize and regularly update Schoology shared resources

  3. Collaboration with other leadership teams

    • Strategy 3.1: Consult with admin regarding what classes are offered (e.g. combined classes as needed) 

    • Strategy 3.2: Attend professional development events and serve on committees in order to stay current with trends and best practices in the field (MPS, MDE, etc).

    • Strategy 3.3: Collaborate on the 5 year narrative

    • Strategy 3.4: Collaborate on the district's instructional plans (e.g. literacy plan) to explain curriculum to both internal and external stakeholders

    • Strategy 3.5: Collaborate with the administration team or the Instructional Supervisor to develop yearly curriculum work focus

    • Strategy 3.6: Collaborate with other TOSAs to identify the professional development focus

Qualifications:
  • Required qualifications include:

    • Valid MN teaching license (K12 or ABE)

    • 3+ years Adult Ed experience

    • Direct experience teaching math in an Adult Ed classroom

    • Experience with teaching, preferably adults

    • Experienced and comfortable with a diverse range of native-speaking and ELL students

    • Completion of ACES/TIF and CCRS training

    • Willing to teach in team's course area

  • Preferred qualifications include:

    • Curriculum development experience preferred

    • Experience and training in Adult Basic Education (including ELL and HSE)

  • Preferred skills include:

    • Digitally literate/competent and confident troubleshooting basic tech and computer issues 

    • Effective attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing competing demands

    • Strong organizational skills

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively and clearly communicate via phone and electronic communication
