Job Overview

We are a small, high-precision contract manufacturing facility seeking a detail-oriented Production Worker / Bench Carpenter to join our team. We manufacture a diverse range of high-quality wood products for critical government, aerospace, rail, and transit sectors. This position operates under the collective bargaining agreement of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. You will process projects from raw lumber through final precision assembly.
Shift & Schedule

  • Shift: Day shift
  • Days: Monday to Friday
  • Schedule: Full-time, daytime hours (6:55am to 3:25pm)
Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting Pay Rate: $19.18 per hour
  • Union Benefits: Upon successful union acceptance, an additional $10.35 per hour is fully funded by the company toward your healthcare and pension contributions.
  • Incentives: Candidates are eligible for attendance and performance-based bonuses.  Annual pay increases.
  • Time Off: Includes Paid Time Off (PTO) program.
Union & Probationary Period

  • Contract Status: This is a union position with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
  • Probationary Period: Candidates will undergo an initial 30-to-60-day probationary period prior to formal union acceptance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lumber Processing: Operate industrial machinery (table saws, miter saws, panel saws) to cut, rip, and cross-cut lumber to exact blueprint dimensions.
  • Shaping & Profiling: Set up and operate drill presses, routers, and shapers to mill and profile wood components according to engineering specifications.
  • CNC Operation: Load programs, set up tooling, and operate CNC routing machinery to execute precise, automated machining cycles.
  • Material Bonding: Perform gluing, laminating, and clamping processes for engineered lumber products.
  • Product Assembly: Assemble final products using hand tools, pneumatic fasteners, and mechanical hardware, adhering strictly to quality control tolerances.
  • Blueprints & Compliance: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to meet rigid government and aerospace standards.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a clean work area, perform routine daily machine maintenance, and follow OSHA and union safety protocols.
Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in commercial woodworking, carpentry, or millwork manufacturing.
  • Technical Skills: Proven proficiency operating industrial woodworking machinery (saws, routers, drill presses).
  • Affiliation: Willingness to join upon completion of probation, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners union.
  • Precision Math: Ability to read a tape measure to 1/32nd of an inch and interpret decimal/fractional blueprints.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for 8–10 hours per day, lift up to 50 pounds regularly, and perform repetitive manual tasks.
  • Security & Background: Ability to pass standard background checks and drug screening as required for government defense contracting.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience operating wood saws, routers, planers, spray equipment and/or assembly work.
  • Familiarity with aerospace (AS9100) or defense manufacturing quality standards.
  • Experience working with varied material types (hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, composites).
