Job description

The Relocation Manager will play a critical role in supporting the successful opening and relocation of multiple retail branch locations for a large, high-profile client. This position will oversee the end-to-end move management process, coordinating furniture contracts, vendors, logistics, installation, scheduling, and site readiness to ensure each location opens on time and fully prepared for business.

This is a highly organized, hands-on role requiring strong project management skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent relocations and opening timelines. The Relocation Manager will serve as a key point of coordination between the client, furniture vendors, movers, contractors, branch leadership, and other project stakeholders. Approximately 60% travel will be required to support locations throughout the relocation and opening process.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end relocation and move management process for multiple retail branch openings and relocations.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, critical paths, and opening timelines to ensure all activities remain on track.
  • Manage and coordinate furniture contracts, including vendor relationships, purchase orders, delivery schedules, installation requirements, changes, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate furniture procurement and installation with internal stakeholders, vendors, movers, contractors, and branch leadership.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for move-related activities and ensure all parties understand responsibilities, deadlines, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate the many moving pieces associated with new branch openings, including furniture, fixtures, equipment, deliveries, installation, moving services, technology coordination, signage, supplies, and site readiness.
  • Conduct regular project status reviews and proactively identify potential delays, conflicts, or risks that could impact an opening date.
  • Track vendor commitments, contracts, costs, deliveries, installation schedules, and outstanding issues through completion.
  • Coordinate move-in and installation activities on site, ensuring furniture and other required items are delivered, installed, and positioned according to established plans.
  • Travel approximately 60% to project locations to oversee relocations, installations, and opening readiness.
  • Build strong working relationships with client leadership, branch teams, furniture vendors, movers, contractors, and other service providers.
  • Manage last-minute changes and unexpected issues while maintaining the overall project schedule and opening objectives.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, contracts, vendor information, status reports, punch lists, and closeout documentation.
  • Provide regular updates to client leadership regarding project status, risks, upcoming milestones, and items requiring attention.
  • Ensure each location reaches move-in and opening readiness in accordance with client expectations and established deadlines.
  • Support the development and refinement of standardized relocation processes, tools, checklists, and best practices to improve execution across future locations.

Desired Competency, Experience, and Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in relocation management, move management, facilities, retail construction/openings, workplace services, project management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing furniture contracts and furniture vendors, including procurement, delivery, installation, change orders, and contract coordination.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with firm deadlines and numerous interdependent activities.
  • Strong understanding of the operational requirements involved in new retail branch openings, relocations, and move management.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage detailed project schedules and keep multiple workstreams organized and on time.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of details, deadlines, vendors, and competing priorities.
  • Strong vendor and contract management experience, with the ability to hold vendors accountable to scope, schedule, and service expectations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with executives, branch leadership, vendors, contractors, and field teams.
  • Ability to identify risks and potential schedule issues early and proactively develop solutions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly visible environment where successful execution and opening dates are critical.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in the field when unexpected issues arise.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and project scheduling/tracking tools.
  • Experience with project management or move management software is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 60%, including overnight and multi-day travel as required by project schedules.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Facilities Management, Project Management, or a related discipline preferred.

This position is 100% in-office. The role requires working in office during standard business hours. Remote work or telecommuting is not an option for this position.
