We're looking for a Construction Inspector to join our Transportation Group in Lenexa, Kansas. The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting roadway and bridge projects, performing field materials testing, and a desire to grow into a project leadership role. We also welcome individuals who are eager to learn and grow in the inspection field.


What You'll Do

As a Construction Inspector, you'll:

  • Read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Perform field materials testing on soil, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Observe and inspect construction activities for compliance with contract documents.
  • Develop the ability to lead inspection projects.
  • Maintain timely and accurate project documentation.
  • Prepare pay applications, change orders, and perform general administrative duties.
  • Conduct environmental inspections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring
  • 5+ years of inspection-related experience.
  • KDOT or MoDOT Certified Inspector Training Certifications preferred (training available if needed).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Broad knowledge of construction materials and methods preferred.
  • Experience with earthwork, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, bridge structures, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and other utilities.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational and computer documentation skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift/carry field equipment and samples (50 lb lift test required).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a physical and drug screening.
