Health & Safety Advisor

Duration: 6 Months Specified Purpose Contract

Location: Mobile


Overview of the role;

The purpose of the Health & Safety Advisor is to actively support the business on risk and assurance matters by conducting regular site visits, assuring the business that the right standards are in place and undertaking regular audits and monitoring progress against the site improvement plans, Veolia's Minimum Requirements and client expectations.

This role will develop strong working relationships with operational teams and together identify improvements and practical solutions, while working closely with the wider Ireland Risk & Assurance team to support operations and where appropriate, support and liaise with external stakeholders, regulators and customers.


Day to Day of the role;

  • Conduct regular formal site audits & engagement visits as directed in the Safety Management system / as per Veolia's Minimum Requirements (VMR) on Veolia sites / contracts

  • Assist or carry out accident / incident investigations in a timely manner

  • Monitor compliance with and provide technical support and advice to site teams to ensure compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental legislation and Veolia's Minimum Requirements; take corrective action as necessary.

  • Collaborate with and support the wider UK & Ireland Risk & Assurance team to ensure R&A team and department project objectives are fulfilled.

  • Support site & R&A teams with ISO 45001 audits

  • Support the use, roll out and development of Veolia management systems and processes across all sites

  • Support the timely and accurate production of statistics / data for team and other business reports

  • Liaise with external regulators and clients as necessary

  • Comply with Veolia R&A reporting and administrative requirements

  • Attend and contribute to Ireland Risk & Assurance and other management meetings and briefings as required.

  • Support and liaise with management teams across the Ireland business, attending management meetings where required

  • Track progress and visits against the construction project planner

  • Attend internal / customer meetings and industry / sector meetings where required.

  • Promote good practice across the team and recommend improvements to the standards i.e. VMR


Requirements for the role;

  • UCD / NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (or equivalent) (Essential)

  • 2-3 years experience in a similar role

  • Motivated to drive improvements within the business to achieve a pro-active culture.
