Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions has the privilege and responsibility of being the primary point of contact for students seeking admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as undergraduates. In its role evaluating first-year and transfer students, the office works tirelessly to identify, recruit, admit, and welcome students who will positively contribute to our campus, state, and nation. The office also supports students by providing academic counseling, sponsors hundreds of events encouraging students to further their education, and works to enhance the image of the University locally and nationally. Members of the office understand that their work is intensely public and is closely followed by students and their families; secondary-school teachers and administrators; University faculty and staff; lawmakers; and media.
Position Summary
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a temporary Graduate Assistant to support the recruitment, engagement, and enrollment efforts of the University's undergraduate admissions operation. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in higher education administration, student recruitment, event planning, communications, and enrollment management while contributing to the success of one of the nation's leading public universities.
The Graduate Assistant will play an integral role in the planning, coordination, and execution of virtual and in-person admissions programming, including admissions information sessions, recruitment events, yield programs, and prospective student engagement initiatives. The position will support outreach efforts with campus partners, provide guidance and information to prospective students and families regarding admission to Carolina, and assist with the successful implementation of admissions events and enrollment initiatives.
Responsibilities include facilitating virtual presentations and information sessions; building and managing event registrations within the Slate CRM system; coordinating event logistics, scheduling, communications, and follow-up activities; responding to inquiries from prospective students, families, and school counselors via email and virtual platforms; and assisting with the assessment and enhancement of outreach strategies and enrollment efforts. The Graduate Assistant will also perform additional administrative and operational duties in support of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Management Preferences
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, or event-related details with a high degree of accuracy or attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including experience presenting information to diverse audiences in virtual or in-person settings.
* Experience in higher education, student affairs, admissions, recruitment, customer service, event planning, or a related field.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while exercising sound judgment.
* Proficiency with technology or data management systems, including Microsoft Office applications, with the willingness to learn platforms such as Slate CRM.
