Mechanic III
Summary:
The Mechanic III performs various repairs, maintenance, inspections, and specialty services for gas and diesel vehicles, pavement marking equipment, forklifts, trailers, and other fleet assets. This position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems while ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and production-ready to support daily operations. A thorough understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, general combustion engines, and roadway construction equipment is required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
โ€ข Perform hands-on maintenance on routine and difficult service needs for vehicles, company forklifts, and various other company specific equipment.
โ€ข Ensure all work and material handling follow established safety procedures and regulations.
โ€ข Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
โ€ข Performs major repairs like chassis, engine repair, disassembling and assembling components.
โ€ข Performs minor repairs and maintenance work such as replacing worn drive belts, hoses, and filters.
โ€ข Independently diagnose and troubleshoot issues, use electronic indicator systems to identify problems, and perform routine safety checks on brakes, suspension, exhaust, cooling, and other systems.
โ€ข Provide recommendations on corrective maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users.
โ€ข Keep logs of work and record issues
โ€ข Other projects and initiatives that drive organizational goals and results.

Education, Certifications & Qualifications:
โ€ข HS Diploma or GED.
โ€ข Must be able to obtain and keep a For-Hire license endorsement to operate Company vehicles.
โ€ข Requires a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience.

โ€ข Must have strong problem-solving skills and a desire to create solutions.
โ€ข Must have the ability to work in sensitive and confidential situations.
โ€ข Maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
โ€ข Excellent time management skills.
โ€ข Excellent oral and written communication skills.
โ€ข Ability to establish and maintain rapport and effective communication with diverse levels within the company and external organizations.
โ€ข Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions with ability to deal with abstract and concrete variables.
โ€ข Prior experience working under tight deadlines with changing priorities.
โ€ข Ability to work independently, be self-motivated with a high sense of urgency.
โ€ข Ability to uphold regulatory and company standards.
โ€ข Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal or external customers.

Employees may be required to perform pushing, pulling, climbing, and crawling as needed.
โ€ข This position will work primarily in an enclosed uncontrolled climate shop environment but may travel to off-site locations and therefore will require wearing all PPE depending on circumstance which may include dust mask, safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection, high-visibility safety vest and/or safety pants and/or steel toed footwear. At times client contract driven PPE may also be required.
