Field Engineer – Site Coordination
Location: Lea County, New Mexico (Project Site)
Duration: Long term contract position (6+ months)

Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Field Engineer – Site Coordination to support execution of the gas treating facility in New Mexico.
This role serves as a key integration point at the project site, responsible for coordinating daily activities and communication between our clients field construction team, the client’s construction organization, subcontractors, and the clients home office.
The position reports directly to the Field Construction Manager and plays a critical role in ensuring alignment across all stakeholders, rapid issue resolution, and a smooth transition from construction into commissioning and startup.
Key Responsibilities
Site Coordination & Integration
- Serve as the primary coordination interface between:
- Our clients site construction team
- Client construction representatives
- Mechanical and electrical subcontractors
- Our clients engineering and project management teams in Houston
- Ensure consistent alignment of daily activities, priorities, and execution plans across all parties
Communication & Reporting
- Manage and maintain effective communication channels between field and home office
- Prepare and distribute:
- Daily and weekly progress reports
- Issue tracking logs and action item lists
- Coordinate and support weekly construction and coordination meetings
- Ensure timely escalation of field issues impacting cost, schedule, or quality
Field Issue Identification & Resolution
- Identify and track:
- Design gaps or discrepancies
- Constructability issues
- Scope overlaps between subcontractors
- Support the Field Construction Manager in evaluating and resolving site issues
- Facilitate RFI development and ensure timely communication with engineering teams
Subcontractor Coordination
- Assist with coordination between mechanical and electrical subcontractors
- Track and manage critical interface points such as:
- Equipment tie-ins
- Instrumentation installation
- Power and control system integration
- Support short-term lookahead planning and sequencing activities
Commissioning & Turnover Support
- Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams to support system completion
- Track subsystem readiness and punch list status
- Assist in development and management of turnover packages
- Support pre-commissioning activities and startup readiness efforts
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 5–7+ years of experience in industrial construction, with a focus on:
- Natural gas processing facilities
- Amine treating plants, cryogenic plants, or similar process facilities
- Demonstrated field experience supporting both:
- Construction execution
- Commissioning/startup phases
- Experience working for or supporting an EPC contractor preferred
Technical Knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of:
- P&IDs, piping isometrics, and general arrangement drawings
- Equipment installation and piping systems
- Electrical and instrumentation integration
- Familiarity with:
- RFIs, change management, and turnover processes
- Field reporting systems and documentation standards
Skills & Abilities
- Strong coordination and organizational skills across multiple stakeholders
- Effective communicator with the ability to interface with:
- Clients
- Subcontractors
- Internal engineering teams
- Ability to identify and resolve field issues proactively
- High attention to detail with disciplined follow-through
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, field-based construction environment
Compensation
Base Salary
- $50-60/hr., commensurate with experience and qualifications
Per Diem
- $125 per day (7 days per week) provided for project duration
Reporting Structure
- Reports to: Field Construction Manager
- Works closely with:
- Project Manager (Houston-based)
- Engineering and design teams
- Client construction representatives
- Mechanical and electrical subcontractors
