Energy Market Analyst
Position Overview

  • Lead the analysis in new markets for the Company by researching state and Federal laws, utility tariffs, and regional energy markets.
  • Assist sales team in running pricing model and project plans for new customer projects.

Reporting Relationships
The newly created Energy Market Analyst position will report to the Chief Commercial Officer.
Specific Responsibilities
Enhance Project Pricing Model: The IG POWR: Suite is a proprietary software tool that optimizes an energy storage and PV solar system based on customer energy load and potential for on-bill savings and market revenues for the project. The output is projected annual cash flows and economic indicators for customer investment decisions. This role will be an internal expert in the POWR:Suite model and project modeling and support the sales team and sales channels for project modeling. Over time, the candidate is expected to be able to enhance the tool by creating new features that reflect changes in the business model.
Enable Sales Effectiveness: Concurrent with the short-term evaluation and action plan, work with team members, Channel Partners and the Chief Commercial Officer to model and price new customer projects, support new customer acquisition and new market entry. Work with the sales team and Channel Partners to significantly reduce time to close.
Support Business Expansion: At the direction of the Chief Commercial Officer and the C-suite, lead and conduct research and analysis of new markets and product offerings. Work will entail utility tariff analysis, financial analysis, regulatory and legal reviews, market analysis and sizing, application review and other analysis. Coordinate and interface across business functions, including marketing, sales, operations, information technology and finance.
Education
  • A Bachelors degree is required. A concentration in business, sales, engineering, environmental science, or marketing is preferred.
Professional Qualifications
  • 1-5 years of analytical work experience.
  • Proficient in Excel or Google spreadsheets, presentation, and document applications. Must be effective with complex array formulas, manipulating app scripts and cross-referenced sheets, and APIs. Familiar with statistical methods (regression, time-series analysis) and forecasting.
  • Experience working with customer relationship applications (Salesforce, Hubspot, MS Dynamics, etc)
  • Well-organized, self-starter who can effectively work with customers, channel partners and IG Sales staff to understand customer needs and to communicate value messages, develop and implement sales strategies, and deliver results.
  • The ability to translate data into insights and to communicate persuasively in writing and in person. Ability to build and present a solid business case.
  • Experience in renewable energy, retail energy services, energy consulting, electrical is preferred.
  • Experience using analytical and statistical tools for querying databases (e.g., SQL, Python or R for data analysis, scripting, and forecasting) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience leveraging AI tools to assist in complex analysis or prompting AI agents to perform repeatable tasks is preferred.
  • Must be able to accommodate occasional travel.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
