Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Company:

The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join the AvionX Mission Systems Software team located in Long Beach, California. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Technology and Innovation Software Engineering organization.

Our engineers create systems to help pilots navigate through complex and nuanced situations to safely achieve their mission. We accomplish this by solving difficult problems in optimal path planning, estimation, and control, as well as autonomous fault protection.

We strive to work from first principles and develop powerful abstractions to maximize capability while minimizing complexity. We're looking for team members who will collaborate with humility and curiosity.

The ideal candidate enjoys helping teams utilize state-of-the art tools and methodologies to automate, optimize, and manage the development and verification of highquality software.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads the design, development, test, debugging and maintenance of software that is integrated into embedded devices and systems and meets industry, customer, safety and regulation standards

  • Leads review, analyses, and translation of customer requirements into the design of software products for embedded devices and systems

  • Reviews code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardware. Leads integration of embedded software with hardware components

  • Leads analyses, monitoring and improvement of the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems

  • Leads testing and debugging of software for embedded devices and systems

  • Researches and leads implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development and hardware technologies

  • Advises on software and hardware integration domains

  • Leads tracking and evaluation of internal and supplier software team performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards

  • Leads embedded software project management functions

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Active US Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded software development

  • 1+ years of experience leading software development projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Experience developing software or simulations with MATLAB, Simulink

  • Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain

  • Experience developing software for real-time, near real-time, or embedded systems

  • Experience leading software development projects using Agile development methodologies
