Description
Our Director of Engineering and Maintenance directs all facility maintenance and engineering operations, our IT operations, and manages capital projects to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. They manage departmental budgets, mentor staff, and oversee HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems to maximize asset life. Provide direction for our off-site IT management and on-site IT/AV employee to maintain resort-wide technological productivity for employees and guests. Key requirements include 6+ years of experience in similar role, technical expertise, and strong leadership skills.
The Maintenance Team at Basin Harbor is responsible for the majority of repairs in the 120 buildings on the grounds of Basin Harbor.

Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategies for facility maintenance, energy conservation, employee and guest technology, and long-term asset management.
• Operations & Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and physical plant, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Assure up-to-date IT productivity and support is available for employees and guests.
• Budget & Capital Projects: Manage departmental budgets, operating statements, and capital expenditures (CapEx) for improvements.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, safety codes, and building permits.
• Team Management: Hire, train, and supervise maintenance, grounds, and technology staff, fostering a positive work environment.
• Vendor Management: Negotiate with contractors and manage vendor contracts for repairs and projects. Manage our 3rd party IT management partners. Purchasing experience is preferred.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
• Education: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in engineering, management, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: 6+ years of experience in project management, engineering, facility maintenance, or a combination of related technical fields.
• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical) and proficiency with maintenance management software. Good working knowledge of computers (software & hardware).
Key leadership skills:
• Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with staff, other departments, and management. This includes providing constructive feedback and listening to team concerns.
• Attention to detail: A keen eye for detail is crucial for inspecting work.
• Problem-solving: Be prepared to handle unexpected challenges and find quick, effective solutions to maintain smooth operations.
• Motivation and support: Create a positive and supportive environment by recognizing achievements, empowering team members to take initiative, and leading by example.
• Organization: Effectively prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and ensure the department runs smoothly and on schedule
