What We Look For In a PC Basic Computer Skills Tutor

• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of Windows operating system navigation, File Explorer management, Settings and Control Panel, web browsing, email setup, Microsoft Office basics, printer setup, and Windows security features. Ability to explain desktop management, file organization, Windows update procedures, and basic troubleshooting while preparing students for productive use of Windows computers in personal and professional settings.
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching Windows navigation, file organization, and basic application usage. Guides students through desktop customization, File Explorer navigation, creating and organizing folders, browsing the internet safely, managing email, using basic Office applications, and performing system maintenance. Emphasizes building independence and troubleshooting confidence and connects PC skills to workplace readiness, online services, and digital communication.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with Windows PC training needs and common challenges such as file management confusion, understanding Windows updates, and basic troubleshooting for common issues. Adapts instruction using hands-on practice, visual guides, and step-by-step walkthroughs to support beginning computer users including adult learners and seniors building essential Windows PC skills for personal and professional use.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
