Job description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) serves customers and developers who rely on storage, compute, and our other service capabilities. Our customers trust us to handle their data with air-tight security measures, which is something that we guarantee.
We are looking for a Data Center Security Specialist to join our expanding Data Center Operations team. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, innovative, and professional. They have a passion for delighting customers, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The Data Center Security Specialist role encompasses oversight of contract employee deliverables and collaboration with Data Center Managers in order to devise security strategies, achieve financial targets, and to improve the overall operational security within our Data Centers. They will report to the Area Security Manager responsible for their Data Center Campus.
Key job responsibilities
-Interface with and assist in mobilizing vendors involved in system repairs and new security construction
-Coordinate the activities of a professional contract guard force
-Oversee individual security vendor deliverables, track service delivery and request corrective actions from vendors as needed
-Foster working relationships to educate data center stakeholders on false alarm reductions
-Extract metrics and observe improvements by looking at and analyzing data
-Verify Data Center security programs are delivered to meet defined global security standards
-Develop strategies for improving electronic surveillance and access controls
-Draft reports and prepare presentations on the status of physical security operations
-Collaborate with managers in writing and implementing security processes and procedures
-Serve as a customer advocate by identifying security-related opportunities and crafting innovative solutions that maintain uncompromising security standards
-Be able to travel between local sites as needed, up to 50% of the workweek

Key job responsibilities
Coordinate the activities of a professional contract guard force and oversee vendor deliverables at your assigned site or campus
Track service delivery against established SLAs and escalate corrective actions to senior team members as needed
Conduct inspections, audits, and walkthroughs to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with AWS security standards and policies
Interface with vendors to coordinate system repairs, preventative maintenance, and new security construction
Foster relationships with data center stakeholders to educate on security procedures and reduce false alarms
Review and approve operational work activities that potentially affect physical security
Provide guidance and support to vendors in the absence of SOPs or in situations that require escalation
Extract metrics and analyze data to observe trends and drive improvements in security operations
Collaborate with data center operations, colocation providers, and partner teams to accomplish operational consistency
Support the development and implementation of security processes and procedures
Travel between local sites as needed, up to 50% of the workweek
A day in the life
As a Data Center Security Specialist, no two days are the same - but each one starts with keeping our customers' data safe. You'll begin your day reviewing overnight security activity, triaging operational tickets, and checking in with the contract guard force. Mid-morning might involve a site walkthrough to inspect access control points, cameras, and perimeter security - identifying anything that needs repair or attention. You'll coordinate with vendors on maintenance tickets and track open work orders against SLAs. After lunch, you might join a meeting with data center operations to align on an upcoming construction project or walk a new build site with security design standards in mind. You'll review alarm data to spot trends in false activations and work with stakeholders on reduction strategies. By the end of the day, you're documenting findings, updating metrics trackers, and preparing notes for your Area Security Manager. Some days will take you across multiple sites on your campus. Throughout it all, you're the on-the-ground expert making sure physical security standards are met and our customers can trust that their data is protected.

- Experience with various Access/Intrusion control Systems in a Control room environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data to drive process and system improvements
