Job description

About Westell

Westell, Inc. is the operating subsidiary of Westell Technologies, Inc., a Delaware-incorporated company headquartered in Aurora, Illinois, in the Naperville area. Since 1980, Westell has been a leading provider of high-performance network infrastructure solutions, focused on expanding reliable communication networks through collaborative innovation. Through three business segments, Westell designs, manufactures, and distributes products used primarily by communications service providers, tower operators, and enterprises deploying in-building wireless and public safety communications systems.

Summary

Join Westell and lead the growth of one of the industry's most recognized portfolios of in-building wireless infrastructure (IBW) products.

We're looking for an entrepreneurial product leader who enjoys identifying market opportunities, launching winning products, and growing profitable businesses. You'll own the strategy, roadmap, and commercial success of a portfolio spanning public safety and commercial cellular infrastructure—including signal boosters, antennas, passive RF components, and emerging connectivity solutions.

Working closely with engineering, sales, operations, customers, and executive leadership, you'll define where the business goes next and help shape the future of wireless connectivity inside buildings across North America. The position is full-time in the Naperville area.

This is an opportunity to own a business—not simply manage products.

Accountabilities
  • Grow Revenue and Margin Across the IBW Portfolio
  • 30% New Product Revenue
  • Identify Strategic Technology Partners
  • Monitor Competition and Market Trends
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and financial performance of the IBW product portfolio.
  • Spend meaningful time in the field with integrators, distributors, AHJs, engineers of record, and building owners to identify unmet needs, market trends, and validate new product concepts.
  • Develop compelling business cases for new products, acquisitions, OEM partnerships, and adjacent markets.
  • Partner with Engineering to translate customer requirements into differentiated products.
  • Work directly with Sales to win strategic opportunities and accelerate pipeline growth.
  • Build pricing strategies that maximize profitability while improving competitive positioning.
  • Drive supplier selection, sourcing strategies, and cost-reduction initiatives to improve margins.
  • Represent Westell at customer meetings, industry events, standards organizations, and trade shows.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of product management experience in RF, telecommunications, wireless infrastructure, or related industries
  • Demonstrated success growing product revenue, market share, and profitability
  • Strong understanding of public safety communications, cellular infrastructure, or adjacent RF technologies
  • Experience developing business cases, pricing strategies, and multi-year product roadmaps
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen
Preferred
  • Experience with Public Safety DAS and NFPA/IFC requirements
  • Experience with commercial cellular DAS
  • Experience working with global OEM and ODM suppliers
  • MBA or advanced technical degree
Physical Demands

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Required to sit, stand, bend and walk regulary; lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory ability sufficient for written and verbal communication.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 annually
