Job description

Job Title: Animal Care Technician

Location: Cambridge ACX/CRC - 100% Onsite

*Contractor will mostly be working at 222 Jacob St location but at times will also work out of 200 Sidney St*

Contract: 1 year - possible extension -based on performance and business needs


- Occasional OT since we do rotate weekends and holidays due to care of the animals.

Purpose:

To maintain and operate equipment, supplies, facilities, and model systems in direct support of essential in/ex vivo research or develop projects under supervision


Responsibilities:

•Completely follow established procedures and protocols with supervision according to required schedules (including off-hours, weekends, and holidays)

•Recognize, clearly communicate, and document procedural variances

•Maintain laboratory equipment, including sanitization, and stocking supplies when appropriate

•Independently perform basic in vivo techniques in multiple species. Learn and effectively implement new advanced in/ex vivo techniques

•Observe performance of and troubleshoot instrumentation

•Complete all assigned and required trainings prior to deadlines and act as a mentor to junior staff for basic techniques

•Use experience and training to make decisions to execute responsibilities

•Demonstrate technical proficiency in field. Demonstrate skill in multiple techniques, as required, to suit the changing needs of research or development sciences. Perform routine and complex tasks competently. Impact projects mostly through direct support of in/ex vivo research activities

•Documentation of tasks and observations, and adherence to designated task schedules and departmental Standard Operating Procedures

•Understand and adhere to corporate standards and regulatory requirements regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
