Responsibilities:

The Network Engineer will support Barrow Wise's Chicago Board of Education project and perform the following duties:

  • Continuously monitor the maintenance of network systems, including performing regular updates, patches, and firmware upgrades
  • Work with other technical groups to help resolve network and non-network issues
  • Monitor network traffic for potential security breaches, respond to security incidents, and take proactive measures
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge in routing protocols such as Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)
  • Demonstrate experience with Linux/Unix operating systems such as Red Hat and Solaris, as well as managing systems via SNMP
  • Demonstrate strong skills in switches, routers, load balancers, and firewalls

An ideal candidate has the following:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or better.
  • Ten (10) years of experience supporting network infrastructure in a large corporate environment
