Job description

Summary:

The CAD Operator is responsible for creating, updating, maintaining, and organizing engineering drawings and related documentation used in the design, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing of Reichdrill drilling equipment. This position works closely with Engineers, Production, Welding/Fabrication, Assembly, Purchasing, and other departments to ensure drawings are accurate, current, and clearly communicate manufacturing requirements.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, mechanically minded, and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment. The CAD Operator should be able to take engineering direction, sketches, measurements, markups, and existing designs and convert them into accurate, professional CAD drawings.

Job Specific Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Including the following: other duties may be assigned):

  • Proficient in AutoCAD/Inventor and/or other CAD software
  • Ability to create and modify 2D drawings and 3D models
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Prepare detailed fabrication, assembly, and layout drawings
  • Make revisions and maintain accurate drawing files
  • Understand dimensions, tolerances, materials, and basic GD&T
  • Ability to work from sketches, field measurements, and engineering specifications
  • Maintain organized CAD files, drawing revisions, and documentation
  • Work closely with engineering, fabrication, welding, and production teams
  • Ability to troubleshoot drawing issues and identify design inconsistencies
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/fabrication processes preferred
  • Experience with machinery, mechanical equipment, or industrial fabrication preferred
  • Previous CAD drafting/design experience preferred
  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Including the following: other duties may be assigned):

  • Know and follow all applicable policies and procedures
  • Report all HSE incidents, accidents, near misses and potential problems in a timely manner
  • Will be expected to help train fellow employees, sharing knowledge will help the department and Reichdrill to grow. Training must be done per Controlled Work Instructions and Trainings.
  • Engage with fellow employees to drive Continuous Improvement
  • Aim to have positive attitude and work together in a courteous and cordial manner. They should strive to help create an honest, trustworthy, and friendly work environment.
  • Use TPM and 5S Methodologies to help optimize equipment availability and improve plant cleanliness and organization by working with maintenance, fellow employees, and leaders to improve overall productivity.

  • Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • CAD/Drafting certificate or associate degree preferred
  • 2+ years of CAD/drafting experience preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment a plus
